THE following by-laws, made by the Mount Eden Road
Board, are published in accordance with "The Road
Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER MADE BY MOUNT EDEN DISTRICT ROAD
BOARD, COUNTY OF EDEN. SPECIAL DISTRICT WATER-
SUPPLY.-WATERWORKS BY-LAWS.
BY-LAWS of the body corporate called the Mount Eden Dis-
trict Road Board, made in pursuance of "The Road Boards
Act, 1882," and "The Road Boards Act 1882 Amendment
Act, 1888," on the 2nd day of November, 1888. Confirmed by
special order, and stamped with the common seal of the said
body corporate, on the 6th day of December, 1888.
In pursuance of sections 126 to 131 of "The Road Boards
Act, 1882," and Part I. of "The Road Boards Act 1882
Amendment Act, 1888," the Mount Eden District Road
Board hereby make and levy the following rates, and declare
the following as the conditions upon which the said Road
Board will supply water on all rateable properties within the
Mount Eden Road District from the date of confirmation of
these by-laws by the said Board :--
EXPLANATION OF TERMS USED.
"Ordinary supply" shall mean only water used for strictly
domestic purposes, and the Board reserves the right to de-
termine in any case what shall be considered a supply for
strictly domestic purposes.
"Extraordinary supply" shall mean water used for any
other purposes of "ordinary supply," and may be charged
extra accordingly.
ORDINARY SUPPLY.
On properties in the Mount Eden Road District-(1) Rate-
able value, in terms of "The Rating Act, 1882," not exceed-
ing £12 10s. 10s. per annum; (2) exceeding £12 10s. and not
exceeding £18, 5 per cent. per annum; (3) exceeding £18
and not exceeding £30, 4 per cent per annum, but not less
for any tenement than 18s. per annum; (4) exceeding £30,
3¼ per cent. per annum, but not less for any tenement than
24s. per annum. Maximum charge for domestic purposes,
50s. per annum.
NON-CONSUMERS' RATE.
5. Upon all rateable property in the said district to which
water can be, but is not, supplied, situate within one hun-
dred yards from any part of the waterworks constructed by,
and now vested in, the said Road Board, a rate of one-half of
the rates above mentioned.
6. Urinals (if not supplied by meter) in manufacturing or
other establishments, £2 per annum each; if more than
three in any one premises, a deduction of 20 per cent. shall
be made.
7. Baths in lodging- or boarding-houses, £2 per annum
each. Taps for baths in private houses, 10s. per annum
each.
8. No overflow-pipe allowed to baths.
EXTRAORDINARY SUPPLY BY METER.
9. Owners of blocks of buildings desiring to be supplied by
meter may be so supplied at the usual meter rate,
