HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
prove of the disbandment of

J Battery, New Zealand Artillery Volunteers.

Date of disbandment, 26th October, 1888.
The under-mentioned gentlemen therefore cease to be
officers in the Volunteer Force, in accordance with the pro-
visions of "The Defence Act, 1886:"-

Lieutenant William Eyre Kenny.
Honorary Surgeon John Fraser Innes.

Commissioner of Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE.—FRANK TEMPLE STANLEY DOBSON, of 117,
Collins Street West, Melbourne, has been appointed
this day, by His Honour the Chief Justice, a Commissioner of
the Supreme Court of New Zealand in Victoria, under the
second section of "The Commissioners of the Supreme Court
Act, 1875," for the purpose of administering and taking all
such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section
mentioned.

THE following special order, made by the Waipawa
County Council, is published in accordance with "The
Counties Act, 1886."

SPECIAL ORDER.

RESOLVED, That it be a special order of the Waipawa County
Council that the boundaries of the road districts of Norse-
wood, Danevirk, and Maharahara be amended as described
in the Schedule hereto, the same to take effect from and
after the date of gazetting.
Sealed with the corporate seal of the Chairman, Council-
lors, and inhabitants of the County of Waipawa, this 12th
day of February, 1889, in the presence of

Schedule.

Norsewood Road District.—All that area in the Land Dis-
trict of Hawke's Bay, bounded on the north by the Makaretu
River and Block CCXXXIV., Takapau Survey District; on
the east by Blocks CXX. and LXIX. to the Waikopiro
Stream; towards the south and east by the Ormondville
Riding to the northern boundary of the Otanga or Mana-
watu No. 4B Block; thence by the northern boundary of
the Otanga Block to the Whakaruatapu Stream; thence by
an east and west line to the Mangatera Stream; thence by
the Mangatera Stream to the north-west corner of Section
31 of Block XIII., Norsewood Survey District; thence along
the northern boundary of the Umutaoroa Block to the
county boundary; and thence in a north-westerly direction
by the county boundary to the place of commencement.

Danevirk Road District.—All that area in the Land Dis-
trict of Hawke's Bay, bounded towards the north and north-
west by the Norsewood Road District, hereinbefore described;
thence towards the south and north by the Ormondville
Riding; thence towards the north-east and south-east by
the Patangata County to the Oporae Trig. Station No. 51;
thence towards the south generally by the Puketoi No. 6
Block, education reserve, Blocks XIV. and IX., Tahoraite
Survey District; towards the north-west by the Napier

Borough Reserve to the Woodville coach-road; thence along
that road in a northerly direction to where it crosses the
Mangapukakakahu Stream; thence along that stream in a
westerly direction to the southern boundary of the Tamaki
Block, and along the southern boundary of that block to
Trig. Station No. 85, at county boundary; thence in a north-
westerly direction by county boundary to the north-west
corner of Umutaoroa or Manawatu No. 1 Block, the place of
commencement.

Maharahara Road District.—All that area in the Land
District of Hawke's Bay, commencing at a point where the
western side of the main road crosses the north boundary of
Block XI., Woodville Survey District, and bounded on the
south generally by Blocks XI. and X., Woodville Survey
District, and Forest Reserve to the county boundary; thence
along the county boundary in a northerly direction to the
south-west corner of the Danevirk Road District; thence
along the southern and western boundaries of the Danevirk
Road District, hereinbefore described, to the place of com-
mencement.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made and confirmed by the Waipawa County Council on 1st
February, 1889, in accordance with section 124, "Counties
Act, 1886,"

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Egmont Road District.

Egmont Road District is published in accordance
with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

RESULT OF POLL.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 6th day of
February, 1889, for obtaining a loan of £200 from the Go-
vernment, in accordance with "The Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1886," "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act,
1886," and "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

For the proposal, 17; against the proposal, nil.

As the number of votes (17) recorded in favour of the
proposal exceeds one-half of the total number of votes (25)
that can be exercised in the Paraite, Upland, and King
Roads Special District, I therefore declare the resolution in
favour of the proposal carried.

NOTICE is hereby given that FRANCIS H. SNOW, of
Victoria Building, Gronfell Street, Adelaide, South
Australia, Licensed Patent Agent, has applied, on behalf of
HIRAM WALKER AND SONS, of the Village of Walkerville,
Sandwich East, in the County of Essex, Province of Ontario,
Canada, to register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866,"
the trade marks of which the following is a description:---

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.
The special and distinctive word "Club."

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.
The special and distinctive word "Imperial."

Description of Trade Mark No. 3.
The representation of a crown, immediately beneath which
is a plain shield enclosing the words "Trade Mark," with the
