  1. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  2. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, situate in the Town of Pukerau, and being Sections Nos. respectively 8, 9, 10, and 11, Block V., of said town. Bounded towards the north-east by Middle Street, 1000 links; towards the south-east by Section No. 7 of said block, 400 links; towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 24 and 23 of said block, 1000 links; towards the north-west by Section No. 12 of said block, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of December, 1887.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the North Island Main Trunk Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Tauramaruui, and the Ongaruhu River Valley:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by "The Public Works, Act, 1882," and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the North Island Main Trunk Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Tauramaruui, and the Ongaruhu River Valley, shall and may be constructed on or through the parcels of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

IN pursuance of the sixth section of "The Land Act, 1885," I, James Prendergast, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, do hereby revoke so much of a certain notification published at page one thousand two hundred and twelve of the New Zealand Gazette No. 84, dated the twenty-ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, as relates to the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto.
