The following remarks apply only to the four principal boroughs:—
The births in November were 239, against 271 in October, a decrease of 32.
The deaths amounted to 96, against 90 in October.
There were 16 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: two males of 73 and 74, and a female of 72, died at Auckland; three males of 72 (3), and three females of 75, 67, and 65, at Wellington; a male of 83 at Christchurch; a male of 74, and five females of 86, 77, 72, 68, and 65, at Dunedin.
Specific Febrile or Zymotic Diseases.—The mortality for November was 9 deaths, against 6 in October. Diphtheria caused 3 deaths, 2 at Christchurch and 1 at Dunedin. There were no deaths from this cause in October.
Constitutional Diseases.—The number of deaths in November was 21, being the same as in the previous month. From cancer there were 5 deaths, against 8, and from phthisis 8, against 10, in October.
Local Diseases.—Of 51 deaths (against 50 in October), 14 were from diseases of the respiratory system, an increase of 4. The deaths at Wellington from local diseases were 22, against 16 in October. Diseases of the circulatory system (heart disease, &c.) caused 12 deaths in the past month, against 6 in October.
