THE following special order, made by the Pokeno Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Pokeno Road Board for regulating Traffic.

THE Pokeno Road Board, at their special meeting held at the Public Hall, on Saturday, the 13th October, 1888, passed the following by-law, to be brought into operation on the 1st July, 1889:—

Any person carting on the main road, or part of the main road, from the Great South Road to the Maungatawhiri Valley, during the months of July, August, or September, and carting on two wheels a greater weight than 15cwt., and not exceeding 20cwt., shall use tires on their wheels not less than 3in. broad; exceeding 20cwt., and under 25cwt., tires 4in. broad to be used; exceeding 25cwt., and not over 30cwt., tires 5in. broad to be used; and for every additional 5cwt. or part of 5cwt., tires 1in. wider to be used.

Any person infringing the above by-law will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5.

We hereby certify that the above special order was duly made by the Pokeno Road Board on Saturday, the 13th October, 1888.

Special Order made by Waipa County Council.—Merging Alexandra Town District.

THAT the petition of the householders of Alexandra be granted, and that the Alexandra Town District be merged in the County of Waipa, by special order, to take effect on the 10th day of October, 1888.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made according to law.

Special Order made by Wirokino Road Board, County of Horowhenua.

THE following special order, made by the Wirokino Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made 4th August, 1888, and confirmed 15th September, 1888.

PROPOSED by Mr. Davies, and seconded by Mr. Gascoigne, “That a special and annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years of one farthing in the pound on the value of all rateable properties within the Wirokino Road District, with the exception of the Crown and Native lands within the meaning of ‘The Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882,’ be now struck, for the purpose of paying the interest and other annual charges on a loan of £6,000, during two years, for the purpose of making the district roads as per Schedule attached, and shall be payable at the office of the Board, in one instalment, on the 1st July in each year.”

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN, COUNTY OF RANGITIKEI.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 27th October, 1888, on a proposal to raise a loan of £600, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of clearing and forming the Maunganohe line of road, situate within the Paraekaretu Riding, County of Rangitikei:—

Number of ratepayers on the roll, 10, representing 14 votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 9; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 13.

A majority of the ratepayers exercising more than one-half the total number of votes being in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Goldfields.—Amended Conditions.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th April, 1888.

REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

  1. The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these conditions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the Middle Island.

  2. The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any existing workings.

  3. No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield within three years from the date of its being registered.
