The foregoing, in Waitara, Upper Waitara, Ngatimaru, and Huiroa, comprises a block on the Junction Road four and a half miles from Tarata and fifteen and a half miles from Inglewood, and is an extension of what is known as the Ngatimaru Country. The greater part of Section 8, Block XVI., Waitara, is open land, and also a large proportion of Section 4, Block II., Ngatimaru; the remainder is forest country, with occasional small clearings; partly agricultural, partly pastoral. Timber is rimu, rata, tawa, &c.; soil good, and the land well watered throughout.

This block is to the eastward of and distant two miles from the Tariki Road School. The land is in some parts hilly; quality of soil good; forest country, well watered.
