Notice of Hearing of Applications for Patents.

Wellington, 17th September, 1888.

No. 3244.—Charles Aylmer Pownall, of Masterton, New Zealand, Barrister and Solicitor, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for destroying blight or other insect or animal life, parasite, or pest upon fruit trees or other trees or plants, entitled “The Patent Nail Blight Destructor.”

No. 3245.—James Baird, of Wynyard Street, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for Baird’s simplex equilibrium high-speed rotary engine.

No. 3246.—George Fraser, of Wynyard Street, Auckland, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for Fraser’s improved overflow grinding and amalgamating mill for treating gold, silver, copper, tin, lead, and other mineral ores.

No. 3247.—Edward Hale Gulliver, of Mangere, near Auckland, New Zealand, Clerk in Holy Orders, and Benjamin Wills Betts, of Mount Eden, Auckland aforesaid, Architect, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in connection with windows, doors, French casements, railways, &c., to be called “Patent Self-balanced Doors and Sashes.”

No. 3248.—David Taylor and David Bremner, trading as the firm of “Taylor and Bremner,” of Waverley, in the County of Hawera, New Zealand, Blacksmiths and Wheelwrights, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for baling and pressing wool, to be called “Taylor and Bremner’s Power-equalising Wool-press.”

No. 3249.—Bessie Fergusson Hughes, of Dunedin, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for the protection of young children, to be called “The Child’s Safe Guard.”

And I have appointed Wednesday, the 13th day of February next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 29th day of January next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 3251.—Edward Grone, of Unterliess, Hanover, Germany, Manufacturer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved manufacture of kieselguhr-dynamite.

No. 3253.—George Torry, of Williamstown, Victoria, Marine Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in furnace-grates.

No. 3254.—Joseph Ralph Radburn Yeats, of Adelaide, South Australia, Civil Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved process for amalgamating gold by volatilized mercury.

No. 3255.—Alexander Harvey, of Auckland, New Zealand, Tinsmith, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a box, tub, or case for the packing and preserving of butter, meats, or other condiments, to be called “Harvey’s Metallic-lined Air-tight Package.”

And I have appointed Thursday, the 14th day of February next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 30th day of January next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.
