A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the two hundred and sixty-seventh section of “The Counties Act, 1886,” and at the request of the Geraldine County Council, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the lands described in the Schedule hereto to be water-races as defined by the two hundred and sixty-sixth section of the said Act, to be known by the name of the Rangitata-Orari Water-races; and, further, that the River Orari shall be a stream which may be taken for the purpose of supplying the said water-races.

SCHEDULE.

RANGITATA-ORARI WATER-RACES.

Head Race.

ALL that area, 100 links in width, situate in the Orari Survey District, commencing at a point on the bank of the Orari River in Rural Section No. 18836, and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction intersecting the said Section No. 18836, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 9549 and 32779, a public road, Rural Section No. 22130, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 23887 and 23262, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 32256 and 24225, Reserve No. 1801, a public road, Rural Section No. 31250, a public road, and Rural Section No. 28615, to a public road forming the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 28616.

Distributing Races.

Race No. 1.

All that area, 12½ links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Orari and Geraldine, County of Geraldine, commencing at a point on the south-western boundary-line of Rural Section No. 28615, at the termination of the Head Race, hereinbefore described, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction generally across a road, and intersecting Rural Section No. 28616, the Waihi and Rangitata Road, Rural Sections Nos. 28570, 28569, 27693, 21046, and 15820, boundary road, Rural Sections Nos. 25285, 25338, 28575, and 29014, boundary road, Rural Sections Nos. 25208 and 28574, Geraldine and Peel Forest Road, Rural Sections Nos. 32091, 32067, 29555, 29321, 24562, 35925, and 29320, Geraldine and Rangitata Road, Rural Sections Nos. 35926 and 24532, Rangitata Flat Road, Reserve No. 2157, Rural Section No. 32555, Sections Nos. 26 and 25 of Reserve No. 349, Reserve No. 2192, a public road, Sections Nos. 23 and 24 of Reserve No. 349, Reserve No. 2477, Rural Sections Nos. 25669, 20272, 19992, 19899, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 22236, 20982, 22497, 22482, 23927, 22296, 21574, 21573, and 21572, to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section.

Race No. 2.

All that area, 12½ links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Geraldine and Kapunatiki, County of Geraldine, commencing at a point on Race No. 1, hereinbefore described, in Rural Section No. 23927, and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction intersecting a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 23926, 24163, 22296, 24167, 24168, 24165, 24164, and 30726, Cooper’s Creek and Rangitata Station Road, Rural Section No. 28670, the road from Geraldine to South Rangitata, Rural Section No. 28672, a public road, and Sections Nos. 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 of Reserve No. 1650, a public road, and Sections Nos. 23, 24, 25, and 26 of Reserve No. 1381, Sections Nos. 39 and 40 of Reserve No. 1371, Reserve No. 2143, a public road, Rural Section No. 29019, Railway Reserve, Crown lands, a public road, Rural Section No. 31383, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 31382, 32547, 28371, and 27712, Reserve No. 2375, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 25866, 27344, and 23971, a public road, Rural Section No. 15991, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 15992, 24039, 17036, 17037, and 24042, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 25720, 27894, 24827, 25471, 24161, 17951, and 24162, a public road, Rural Sections Nos. 24436 and 15940, and a public road, to the sea.

Race No. 3.

All that area, 12½ links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Orari and Geraldine, County of Geraldine, commencing at a point on Race No. 1, hereinbefore described, in Section No. 26 of Reserve No. 349, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction generally intersecting the said Section No. 26 and Sections Nos. 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31 of the said reserve, a public road, Section No. 33, Rural Sections Nos. 35932, 33158, 33159, 29160, 29878, and 30726, Cooper’s Creek and Rangitata Station Road, Rural Section No. 28669, the Geraldine and South Rangitata Road, Rural Section No. 28671, Taylor’s Road, Section No. 16 of Reserve No. 1650, the southern trunk railway-line, Section No. 17, Reserve No. 2146, FitzGerald Road, Section No. 27 of Reserve No. 1381, Sections Nos. 41 and 39 of Reserve No. 1371, the Main South Road, and Section No. 40 of Reserve No. 1371, to Race No. 2, hereinbefore described.

Race No. 4.

All that area, 12½ links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Geraldine and Kapunatiki, County of Geraldine, commencing at a point on Race No. 2, herefnbefore described, in Rural Section No. 32547, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction generally intersecting the said Section No. 32547, and Rural Sections Nos. 29311, 29278, 28040, and
