Defining the Middle Line of Further Portion of the Catlin’s River Branch of the Waitaki–Bluff Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Waitaki–Bluff Railway, with a branch from the Main Line to Catlin’s River, is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorising the construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished; and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling him in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in the Railway Reserve in Block III., Glenomaru Survey District, the said point being the termination of the railway as described in a Proclamation, dated the 10th May, 1887, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 32, of the 19th May, 1887; proceeding thence in a south-easterly direction for a distance of about 53 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands, viz.: The above-mentioned Railway Reserve, and Section No. 18, Block III.; and Railway Reserve, being part of original Section No. 22, Block VII.; and terminating at a point on the western boundary of Section No. 5 (Education Reserve), Block VII., distant about 545 links from the north-western corner thereof: including all intervening places, roads, rivers, streams, and watercourses; all in the Glenomaru Survey District, in the Provincial District of Otago;
in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 15891, a copy of which has been deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago.
Given under the hand of the Honourable Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a further portion of the Catlin’s River Branch of the Waitaki–Bluff Railway:
And whereas all conditions precedent required by law to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land in the manner hereby provided have been observed and performed:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly-appointed Deputy, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by section one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling him in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the further portion of the said line of railway hereinbefore specified.
ERRATA.—In New Zealand Gazette No. 42, of the 26th July, 1888, page 791, in Schedule to Proclamation dividing Petone into wards, for “May Street,” in eighth line, read “Udy Street.” In same Gazette, page 793, appointments of Returning Officers for wards in Borough of Petone, for “South Ward,” read “West Ward” as the ward for which Mr. F. J. France is appointed Returning Officer.
