ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of May, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the Cuvier Island Lighthouse:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works, Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Cuvier Island Lighthouse shall and may be constructed on the parcel of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

All in the Provincial District of Auckland; as the said parcel of land is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.D. 1375, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that from and after the date hereof English starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) and Australian magpies (Gymnorhina tibicen) shall come within the operation of the said Acts as fully and effectively as if they had been included in the Third Schedule to the said “Animals Protection Act, 1880.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
