Vesting Control of the Upper Waitaki Ferry in Waimate County Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any ferry or ford already established, or which may hereafter be established, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation :

And whereas it is expedient that the control and management of the ferry described in the Schedule hereto should be vested in the manner hereinafter described :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the ferry described in the Schedule hereto, and known as “the Upper Waitaki Ferry,” shall, from and after the date of the first publication hereof in the Waimate Times newspaper, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Waimate County Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that the Waimate County Council shall itself provide out of its own funds one-half of the cost of managing and maintaining the said ferry, and the appliances, if any, connected therewith; and that the Waitaki County Council shall, on demand in writing from the said Waimate County Council, pay to the said Council from time to time one-half of the actual cost of managing and maintaining the said ferry and the appliances connected therewith.

SCHEDULE.

The ferry known as the Upper Waitaki Ferry across the Waitaki River, on the boundary of the Counties of Waimate and Waitaki, in the vicinity of Tent Creek, as indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 15720, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Proclaiming the Taking and Laying-off of a Road over Land in the Wellington Provincial District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim that the road described in the Schedule hereto has been duly taken and laid off through the land specified under warrant of the date given in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land, 1 chain wide, the centre of which commences at a point marked A, situate in Subdivision X., Manchester Block, Block I., Gorge Survey District, distant south 5320 links and east 907 links from the Trig. Station V, and proceeds thence in a south-easterly direction to a point marked B on the south-eastern boundary-line of the aforesaid Manchester Block, and distant 4426 links from its north-eastern corner; as the same piece of land is more particularly delineated on plan marked S.O. 776, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

Date of warrant, 22nd of November, 1884.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
