Sale of Unclaimed Property.
Police Department (Commissioner's Office),
Wellington, 1st May, 1888.
THE unclaimed property described hereunder, and now in
possession of the police, at the stations named, will,
unless previously claimed, be sold by public auction, at the
respective Police Offices, on Saturday, the 26th instant, at
noon, in accordance with the Police Regulations.
Auckland: Two revolvers and cartridges, one double- and
one single-barrelled gun, piccolo, tweed coat, two dresses,
and sundries.
Napier: Silver lever hunting watch, No. 3238; two gold
rings, gold brooch, gold-plated locket, silver bracelet, nickel-
silver revolver, saddle, and sundries.
Gisborne: Two gold keeper-rings, black-silk bag, pair
reins, double-barrelled gun, and sundries.
Wanganui: Silver Geneva watch, No. 74912; jet brooch,
silver bracelet, gold and cornelian brooch, two gold rings, and
sundries.
Wellington: Two umbrellas, parcel of dress material, and
sundries.
Nelson: Silver Geneva watch, three rings, bridle, and
sundries.
Blenheim: Pair of blankets and sundry articles of clothing.
Invercargill: Greenstone pendant, shawl, spade, and
sundries.
Dunedin: Metal watch, No. 28194, and steel chain; silver
snuff-box, earring, breast-pin, four umbrellas, parcel of calico,
and sundries.
Clyde: Silver lever open-faced watch with silver dial and
gilt numerals, No. 6553.

Notice of Hearing of Applications for Patents.

NO. 2946.—HENRY PERRIMAN, of Essendon, near Mel-
bourne, Victoria, Clerk, and CHARLES FRED. ALGER,
of Mackenzie Street, Melbourne, aforesaid, Engineer, have
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an
improved implement for straining wire by a new method,
and for other cognate purposes.
No. 2947.—PHINEAS PEARSON CRAVEN, of Coronet Hill,
Black Rock, Sandringham, Victoria, Gentleman, has de-
posited at this office a specification of an invention for an
improved type-distributing machine.
No. 2948.—ALFRED HENRY FORD, of 100, Michael Street,
Clifton Hill, North Fitzroy, Victoria, Upholsterer, has de-
posited at this office a specification of an invention for an
improved method of constructing sliding-doors.
No. 2949.—PHINEAS PEARSON CRAVEN, of Coronet Hill,
Black Rock, Sandringham, Victoria, Gentleman, has de-
posited at this office a specification of an invention for an
improved type-setting machine.
No. 2950.—CORNELIUS LOR WHEELER, of Christchurch,
New Zealand, Miller, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for separating grain and seeds and other
mixed material, to be known as "The New Departure
Wheeler's Rotary Retention Sieves."
No. 2951.—JOHN SHREWS TALBOT, of Auckland, New Zea-
land, Journalist, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for more expeditiously fastening boots and
shoes, to be called "Talbot's Boot- and Shoe-fastener."
And I have appointed Thursday, the 30th day of August
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 15th day of
August next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will
be precluded from urging the same.

New Zealand, Photographer, has deposited at this
office a specification of an invention for Lawrence's im-
proved camera, with automatic revolving front.
No. 2953.—GEORGE CORNISH, of Auckland, New Zealand,
has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
removing foul air from mines, shafts, tunnels, &c.
No. 2954.—WALTER GREENSHIELDS, Bracist, and JOSEPH
JAMES CRAIG, Contractor, both of Auckland, New Zealand,
have deposited at this office a specification of an invention
for preventing sores on the back of horses, to be called "The
Automatic Dray-saddle."
No. 2955.—ARTHUR BUCK KITCHENER, of Waiheme Grange,
Dunback, Otago, New Zealand, Sheep-farmer, has deposited
at this office a specification of an invention for shearing
sheep or other animals bearing wool or hair, by means of a
wire heated by electricity.
No. 2958.—JOHN STENT, Railway Porter, and ROBERT
HUME, Commercial Traveller, both of Dunedin, New Zea-
land, have deposited at this office a specification of an in-
vention for cleansing panels and windows of railway and
other carriages.
No. 2959.—AMBROSE GEORGE HALL, of Wanganui, New
Zealand, Settler, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for an improvement in smoothing-irons, to
be called "The Lamp-funnel Smoothing-iron, Hall's
Patent."
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 4th day of September
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 20th day of
August next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

Land Act, 1885," that the selectors of the land
mentioned in the Schedule hereunder have forfeited their
interest in the same for non-fulfilment of conditions:—
Run No. 1, Taramarama Survey District, Wairoa County;
Anderson and Thorsen, selectors.

be sold by auction, at Tauranga, on the same date.
