Boundaries of District Court District of Westland altered.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The District Courts Act, 1858,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, as he shall think fit, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to constitute throughout the colony, or in any part thereof, districts within which District Courts shall be respectively held, and such districts to abolish, and the boundaries thereof to define or alter :

And whereas, by a Proclamation bearing date the tenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, a district was defined within which a District Court should be held under the said Act, and it was thereby declared that the said Court should be designated by the name of “The District Court of Westland:”

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the ninth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, the boundaries of the said district so defined were altered :

And whereas it is expedient to further alter the boundaries of the said district so defined as aforesaid :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the twenty-third day of April instant, the boundaries of the district within which the District Court of Westland shall be held shall be altered, and that thenceforth the boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries hereinafter described.

DISTRICT COURT DISTRICT OF WESTLAND.

All that area bounded towards the north generally by the Razorback Creek to its source ; thence by a right line to and by the summit of the Paparoa Range over Mount Faraday to the Buller River ; thence by that river to its confluence with the Inangahua ; thence by a right line to a point on the summit of the Brunner Range, near the source of Dee Creek ; thence by the summit of that range to the Buller River ; thence by a right line to Mount Humboldt ; towards the south-east by the summit of the Spencer Mountains and Southern Alps to Mount Aspiring ; thence towards the south by a right line to the mouth of the Awarua River ; and towards the north-west by the sea.

Proclaiming Foxton a Borough under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” the Governor is empowered, by Proclamation, to declare any portion of the Colony of New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act from and after a day to be named in such Proclamation :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the district described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby constituted, as from the date hereof, a borough under the said Act ; and I do further proclaim and declare that the name of such borough shall be the Borough of Foxton, that the boundaries thereof shall be those described in the said Schedule hereto, and that the Council of the said borough shall consist of six councillors.

SCHEDULE.

BOROUGH OF FOXTON.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Wellington, bounded towards the north generally by the road forming the southern boundary of Sections Nos. 475 and 476, Block I., Mount Robinson Survey District, from a point 50 chains distant from the north-western corner of Section No. 467 to a point in line with the eastern boundary of said Section No. 476 ; thence to and by that section and by Section No. 410 to the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 537 ; thence by that road and the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 466 to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section No. 465 ; thence to and by that section and by Section No. 464 to the road forming the western boundary of Section No. 370, Town of Foxton ; thence across that road, and by the road forming the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 370, 369, 368, 367, 366, 365, 364, and 363, across the road forming the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section, and by the road forming the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 463, 461, 460, and 451 to the road forming the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section ; thence towards the east generally by that road and the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 435, by Sections Nos. 27 and 555, by the road forming the southern boundary of Sections Nos. 257, 258, and 418 to a point in line with the western boundary of Section No. 434 ; thence to and by that section and by Section No. 535 to the Manawatu River ; thence towards the south and west generally by that river to a point due south of the starting-point ; and thence by a right line to the starting-point.

I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, appoint the persons named in the Schedule hereto to be Agents, to appear and act for Her Majesty in all suits in the Resident Magistrates' Courts brought for the recovery of the rates or sums of money payable to Her Majesty under “The Sheep Act, 1878,” and the Acts amending the same.
