PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in the forty-fourth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and intituled “The Marriage Act, 1880,” the following name of an Officiating Minister within the meaning of the said Act is published for general information:—

NO. 2891.—ANDREW RYAN, of St. Kilda, Victoria, Clergyman, and WILLIAM EDDINGTON FIELD, of the same place, Analyst, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved method of rendering fire-proof all kinds of houses, buildings, and household furniture.
No. 2892.—ALFRED McMILLAN, of Melbourne, Victoria, Manufacturer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved knife-cleaner.
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 30th day of October next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 15th day of October next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 2890.—HEINRICH GRIEGER, of Berlin, Prussia, Manufacturer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in oil-lamps with annular burners.
No. 2893.—GEORGE BROWNLEES the younger, of Penola, South Australia, Blacksmith, THOMAS JOHN BURT, Licensed Victualler, and ROBERT CHARLES MILLER, Chemist, both of Casterton, Victoria, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved contrivance for coupling the shafts or poles to vehicles.
No. 2894.—EDWARD HAMMOND, Blacksmith, and WILLIAM EDWARD ROSE SMITH, Machinist, both of Wellington, New Zealand, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a new or improved apparatus for tilting casks.
No. 2895.—WALTER BROWN, of Wellington, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for dressing and preparing the fibre of the phormium tenax or New Zealand flax and other fibrous plants.
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 31st day of July next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 16th day of July next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 2898.—WILLIAM BURNLEY BUST, of Opohe, Dunedin, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improvement in the manufacturing of brushes for painting, shaving, artists, &c., to be known as “Bust’s Patent Brush.”
No. 2899.—EDMUND ALFRED FIELD, of Dunedin, New Zealand, Commission Agent, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for “The Improved Fastener” for baled goods.
No. 2900.—HENRY WILLIAM HOLBROOK CHATFIELD, of Melbourne, Victoria, Master Mariner, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for detecting the distance a ship will pass off a known danger, also for taking cross-bearings.
No. 2901.—ROBERT COCKERELL, of Invercargill, New Zealand, Agricultural Implement-maker, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved lever wave-pendulum for pumping purposes for gold-mining.
And I have appointed Thursday, the 2nd day of August, next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 18th day of July next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.
