2883.—WILLIAM ARCHIBALD MURRAY, of Auckland, New
Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for an improved fastening for bars, pipes, spars,
rods, and wires, specially useful for shanks of coulters, wheel-
fixing, and telegraph-poles cross-heads.
No. 2884.—WILLIAM ARCHIBALD MURRAY, of Auckland,
New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for improvements in gates.
No. 2885.—DANIEL BERNARD BATE, of Parnell, Auckland,
New Zealand, Practical Engineer and Millwright, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for the
Eureka bottle-machine.
No. 2886.—RICHARD THOMAS WEBB, of Greymouth, New
Zealand, Sawmiller, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for testing or prospecting auriferous
deposits, to be called "Webb's Patent Prospecting Pump."
And I have appointed Thursday, the 26th day of July next,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said
applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 11th day of July
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-
cluded from urging the same.

Sale of Leaseholds, Grey Coal Reserve.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leaseholds of the sec-
tions of land situated in the Grey Coal Reserve No.
274, and described in the Schedules A, B, and C, given below,
will be offered for sale by public auction, at the Railway
Goods Station, Brunnerton, on Wednesday, the 25th April,
at 2 o'clock p.m., subject to the rents and conditions here-
under set out.
Maps of the sections may be seen at the District Land
Office, Hokitika; the Public Works Office, Greymouth; and
the Railway Station, Brunnerton.
Terms of leaseholds enumerated on Schedules A, B, and
C, fourteen years, with the exceptions of Sections 65 and 66,
whose terms are ten years, and Section 742, and tramway
site, whose terms are seven years.
Right of re-entry reserved to Government for coal-mining
purposes only, at any time during the currency of the lease,
or at the termination thereof, by paying compensation for
improvements not exceeding £200.
In addition to those stated above, the leases will contain
the ordinary conditions of leases of that description, full
particulars of which will be given at sale.
Conditions of Sale.—The highest bidder (for rental or
