  1. THAT, at the next meeting of the Board, a motion be pro-
    posed to adopt, by special order, the provisions of "The Local
    Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," and that notice of such intention
    be advertised in accordance with the Act.—Carried. (2nd
    November, 1886.)

  2. That this Board hereby, by special order, adopts the
    provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," within
    the Waiohine River District.—Carried. (7th December, 1886.)

manner provided by section 62 of "The River Boards Act,
1884."

Arrangements for First Elections, Borough of Melrose.

point

WILLIAM JAMES FOSTER

to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of
Mayor and Councillors of the Borough of Melrose; also to ap-
point Monday, the 16th April, 1888, to be the day for holding
the election of Mayor; and Tuesday, the 17th April, 1888, for
the election of three Councillors for Ohio Ward; Wednes-
day, the 18th April, 1888, for the election of three Councillors
for the Island Bay Ward; and Thursday, the 19th April, 1888,
for the election of three Councillors for the Kilbirnie Ward;
and also to appoint Monday, the 23rd April, 1888, at 8 o'clock
in the evening, to be the time, and the office of the Kilbirnie
Road Board, 97, Willis Street, Wellington, to be the place, at
which the first meeting of the Council of the Borough of
Melrose shall be held.

Alterations in and Additions to the Scale of Charges in
force on the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with section 144 of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," I, Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for
Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in
and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force
from and after the 26th March, 1888 :—

PART III.—REGULATIONS.

Class M.

One drover to every three or more trucks in the same con-
signment of live stock may travel free in charge of such live
stock, second class, when carriage-room is available, or in
the van, as may be directed by the department.

PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.

AUCKLAND SECTION.

Class E.

The rate on Class E, Onehunga to Auckland, including all
charges at Auckland and Onehunga, will be 4s. 6d. per ton.
Consignor to load.

GREYMOUTH SECTION.

Coke consigned to Greymouth for shipment will be charged
3s. per ton, including weighing and discharging into ships.
Minimum, 14s. per truck.

Clay and bricks from Brunnerton Sidings to Greymouth
will be charged 2s. per ton.

PICTON SECTION.

Class E.—Storage at Blenheim.

Storage at Blenheim on Class E goods, consigned for
conveyance by rail only, will be charged as follows :—
For the first month or fraction of a month, at per
ton. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6d.
For each week or fraction of a week afterwards, at
per ton . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1d.

HURUNUI-BLUFF SECTION.

Shunting coal from Jetty Street Wharf, Dunedin, to Peli-
chet Bay Sidings will be charged 1s. 6d. per ton; minimum
charge, 7s. 6d. per truck.

Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse for the
Manufacturing of Perfumery, &c.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this
purpose vested by "The Customs Laws Consolidation
Act, 1882," I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do
hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned premises
to be a warehouse or place of security for the manufacture
therein of perfumery and other articles in which spirit is a
necessary ingredient :—
