Defining the 'Middle Line of a Further Portion of the Wellington-Napier Railway.—Portion of Awapurua Section

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the line of railway from Wellington to Napier is one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and which Act is, in the seventh section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorising the construction of such railway; and such railway is unfinished, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same, viz., portion of Awapurua section:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the aforesaid section seven of “The Public Works Act, 1879,” and by sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situated in the Native Reserve No. 200, in Block 8 of the Woodville Survey District, the said point being distant about 20 chains 60 links along the prolongation in a north-easterly direction of the boundary-line between Sections Nos. 169 and 170, and offsetted therefrom in a south-easterly direction for a distance of about 9 chains 40 links; thence proceeding in a generally south-westerly direction for a distance of about 63 chains 40 links, and passing in, into, through, and over the following lands situated in Block 8 of the Woodville Survey District, Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, namely, Native Reserve No. 200 and Sections Nos. 172 and 173, Block 8, and including all intervening and adjoining places, lands, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses, and terminating at a point in Section No. 173 aforesaid, the said point being also a termination of a portion of the railway from Wellington to Napier (Awapurua Bridge Contract) as referred to in a Proclamation dated 1st May, 1883, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, of the 10th May, 1883: in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 15619, copy of which plan has been deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at Napier, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay.

Also commencing at a point in Mangatainoko Block No. 1B, Native Reserve, Mangahao Survey District, Provincial District of Wellington, the said point being also the commencement of a portion of the railway from Wellington to Napier (Awapurua Bridge Contract), as referred to in a Proclamation dated 1st May, 1883, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, of 10th May, 1883, proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction for a distance of 20 chains 80 links or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through, or over, and terminating in the said Mangatainoko Block No. 1B, Native Reserve, Mangahao Survey District, Provincial District of Wellington, including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses: in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 15619, copy of which plan has been deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken for a branch line of railway from the main line of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway, at or near Huntly, to a point in the Auckland University College Reserve fronting Lake Kimihia, in the Parish of Taupiri:

And whereas all conditions precedent required by law to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such lands in the manner hereby provided have been observed and performed;
