Result of Polls for Proposed Loans, County of Wanganui.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Wanganui County Council, are published in accordance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.—LONG ACRE SUBDIVISION.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the above subdivision, taken at the residence of Mr. James Gray, on Saturday, the 17th December, 1887, for the proposal to borrow £500 under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886:"

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 12 ratepayers, representing 20 votes; against the proposal, 1 ratepayer, representing 3 votes.

A majority in number of the ratepayers of the above subdivision having recorded their votes in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting being entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, I hereby declare the resolution in favour of the proposal duly carried.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the above subdivision, taken at the residence of Mr. Thomas Landers, on Monday, the 12th December, 1887, for the proposal to borrow £500 under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886:"

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 11 ratepayers, representing 18 votes; against the proposal, 2 ratepayers, representing 3 votes.

A majority in number of the ratepayers of the above subdivision having recorded their votes in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting being entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, I hereby declare the resolution in favour of the proposal duly carried.

Amended Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Town District of Southbridge, County of Selwyn.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Southbridge Town Board, is published in accordance with "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886."

Town Board Office,
Southbridge, 3rd December, 1887.

SIR,—At the poll held on Wednesday, the 30th November, the following votes were recorded on the proposal that the Town Board do raise a loan of £400 for the purpose of establishing the following public works, to wit, the purchase of a town hall and library, situate on Sections 3 and 4, fronting High Street, in the said town district, and of the said sections; and that the said loan be charged on a special rate of ½d. in the pound sterling on the value of the rateable property within the said town district;—

For the proposal, 66; against the proposal, 10. Number of names on the roll, 131.

I, therefore, declare the proposal agreed to by one-half of the ratepayers.

Southbridge Town Board.—In the matter of "The Town Districts Act, 1881," "The Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1883," and "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886;" and in the matter of a loan proposed to be raised by the Southbridge Town Board of the sum of £400.

I, R. C. Burns, Chairman of the Southbridge Town Board, do hereby declare that on the 30th day of November, 1887, at Southbridge, a poll of the ratepayers of the Southbridge Town District was taken on the following proposal: That the Southbridge Town Board do raise a loan of £400 for the purpose of establishing the following public work, to wit, the purchase of a town hall and library, situate on Sections 3 and 4, fronting High Street, in the said town district, and of the said sections; and that the said loan be charged on a special rate of ½d. in the pound sterling on the value of the

rateable property within the said town district. And I do hereby give notice that the resolution in favour of the said proposal has been duly carried.

I, Robert Crosby Burns, Chairman of the Southbridge Town Board, do solemnly and sincerely declare that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, all the proceedings required have been properly taken in the matter of the Southbridge Town Board raising a loan of £400 for the purpose of establishing the following public work, to wit, the purchase of a town hall and library, situate on Sections 3 and 4, fronting High Street, in the said town district, and of the said sections.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882."

Special Orders made by Whareama Road Board, County of Wairarapa North.

THE following special orders, made by the Whareama Road Board, are published in accordance with "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDERS passed by the Whareama Road Board, at a Meeting held on the 23rd December, 1887.

  1. THAT this Board now confirm, by special order, a resolution passed at the last meeting, making a special rate of one-eighth of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of the properties of those persons interested in raising a loan of £800, under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for expenditure on the Blairlogie Road, as duly advertised, and that the special rate be now struck.

  2. That this Board now confirm, by special order, a resolution passed at the last meeting, making a special rate of one-sixth of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of the properties of those persons interested in raising a loan of £200, under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for expenditure on the East Coast District line of road, as duly advertised, and that the special rate be now struck.

I hereby certify that the above special orders have been duly passed by the Whareama Road Board, as required by the 76th section of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."
