Regulations and Fees under the Public Trust Office Acts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
seventh day of February, 1888.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by “The Public Trust Office Act, 1872,” it
is, amongst other things, provided that the Governor
may, by Order in Council, make and from time to time re-
voke or alter regulations for the conduct of the business in
the Public Trust Office, and for fixing scales of charges upon
property placed therein, for the cost of managing the same,
and for the receipt and payment of moneys belonging to or
accruing from such property, and for keeping, rendering,
and auditing accounts of such moneys, and for determining
what part of, and in what securities, such moneys shall be
invested, and for the safe custody of such securities; pro-
vided that no such regulation shall be repugnant to any of
the provisions of the said Act: And whereas by “The Pub-
lic Trust Office Act Amendment Act, 1873,” it is, amongst
other things, also enacted that there shall be deducted from
the moneys paid to the Public Trustee, or his agents, such
amount as shall from time to time be fixed by the Governor
in Council, but not exceeding seven pounds per centum
from the moneys paid to the credit of the Public Trustee's
Account: And whereas by an Order in Council made on
the fifth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-five, the Governor in Council made certain regulations
and fixed certain scales of charges under the hereinbefore in
part recited Acts: And whereas by “The Native Reserves
Act, 1882,” it is further provided that the Governor in
Council may from time to time make regulations under
the thirteenth section of “The Public Trust Office Act,
1872,” for the administration of Native reserves under the
said first-mentioned Act, and for fixing the charges to be
paid as cost for managing the same: And whereas by Order
in Council made on the twelfth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-three, the Governor in Council did make
regulations and fix certain charges to be made or deducted
under “The Native Reserves Act, 1882,” for the administra-
tion of Native reserves as aforesaid: And whereas it is
expedient to revoke all the said regulations and scales of
charges, and to substitute others in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all
powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf under
the hereinbefore in part recited Acts, and in pursuance
and exercise of every other power and authority enabling
him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and con-
sent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby revoke all the regulations and scales of charges re-
spectively made by the said Orders in Council or either of
them, and by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council as aforesaid doth hereby make the several regu-
lations and also fix the scale of charges set forth in the
Schedule hereto, and doth declare that the provisions of this
Order in Council, and the regulations and scale of charges
made thereby, shall come into force and take effect on and
after the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS.

The Public Trust Office shall be situate at the seat of
Government, in such premises as the Colonial Treasurer
from time to time directs. The premises used and occupied
at the date these regulations come into force shall continue
to be the Public Trust Office without and until further direc-
tion. -
The office shall be open for public business daily from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., except on
Saturdays, when it shall close at 1 p.m., and it shall not be
open at all on Sundays, Good Friday, and Christmas Day,
nor on such other days or times as shall be duly declared or
appointed by Government to be general public holidays. -
The Board of the Public Trust Office (hereinafter
referred to as “the Board”) shall meet for the despatch
of business at the Public Trust Office on Tuesday in each
week, at 2.30 p.m., and at such other times as it shall be
called together by the Public Trustee, or by adjournment of
a previous meeting. -
The Colonial Treasurer shall be Chairman of the Board,
and if he shall not be present at any meeting, the members
present shall elect one of their number to be Chairman. -
The Chairman at each meeting shall have an original
but not a casting vote on all questions coming before the
Board, and where the members present are equally divided
on any question it shall be deemed to be lost.
