PETONE TOWN BOARD.
NOTICE is hereby given that the following are the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal to raise a loan for a water-supply for the Petone Town District:—
Number of ratepayers on the roll, 249; representing 357 votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 188, representing 190 votes; against the proposal, 3 voters, representing 3 votes.
And I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

Authorising the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company (Limited) to sell surplus Lands taken for the Purposes of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway at Plimmerton which are not required for the Purposes of the said Railway.
WHEREAS it is enacted by the fifty-first section of “The Railways Construction and Land Act, 1881,” that, if it is found that any land taken under this Act is not required for the purposes of the railway, the company may, with the consent of the Minister for Public Works, publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold by public auction, or, with the like consent, may cause such lands to be leased for any term not exceeding twenty-one years, at such rent and upon such terms and conditions as the company thinks fit:
And whereas the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto were taken under the provisions of the said Act for the purposes of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway, and are not required for the purposes of the said railway: And whereas the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company is desirous of selling the said lands, and has applied to me, as Minister for Public Works, to consent to the sale thereof:
Now, therefore, I, Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, do hereby consent to the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company (Limited) causing the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto to be sold by public auction.

I, FREDERIC TRUBY KING, Bachelor of Medicine, Master in Surgery, and Bachelor of Science of Edinburgh University, now residing at Wellington, do hereby give notice that I intend applying, on the 12th March, 1888, to have my name placed on the Medical Register for the Colony of New Zealand; and that I have accordingly deposited evidence of my qualifications in the office of the Registrar-General of the said colony.

I, JAMES EDWARD RIDDELL, Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, Licentiate of the Apothecaries’ Hall, Ireland, and duly-registered Medical Practitioner of Great Britain, residing at Herbertville, do now give notice of my intention of applying, on the 26th February, 1888, to have my name placed on the Register of Medical Practitioners in the Colony of New Zealand; and I have this day deposited with the Registrar at Napier the evidence of my qualifications, in terms of “The Medical Practitioners Act, 1869.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Head Office of the Phoenix Assurance Company of London is situate at Exchange Chambers, 12, Grey Street, in the City of Wellington, at which Head Office legal proceedings and any notice may be served upon the company by serving the same upon the General Agent and Attorney of the company personally, or by sending the same through the post in a prepaid letter addressed to him, or leaving the same at the said Head Office, and such service shall be good service upon the company.

Advertisements are charged at the uniform rate of 6d. per line for each insertion.
For half-yearly statements under the Mining Act, the charge will be 23s.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening in each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before two o’clock of the day preceding publication.
Communications should be addressed to the Government Printer, Wellington, to whom post office money orders should be made payable.
Postage or duty stamps cannot in any case be received in payment from any place at which post office orders are issued.
Booksellers and Advertising Agents will be allowed a commission at the rate of 5 per cent.
NO ADVERTISEMENT WILL BE INSERTED WITHOUT PREPAYMENT BEING MADE.
