the western bank of the Waipaoa River easterly for a distance
of 1180 links or thereabouts; thence by a line, 440 links;
thence again by the western bank of the Waipaoa River afore-
said for a distance of 2700 links or thereabouts; thence again
by a line, 690 links; thence again by the western bank of the
Waipaoa River for a distance of 1775 links; and thence
again by a line, 965 links, to a point in the middle of the Wai-
paoa River aforesaid; and towards the East by a line along
the middle of the Waipaoa River aforesaid southerly to the
commencing-point.

Road containing 10 acres 2 roods 18 perches: Commencing
at a point in the middle of the Waipaoa River at the
northern extremity of the road (containing 29 acres 3 roods
20 perches) which traverses the Mangataikapua Block (No.
3512). Bounded towards the North-west generally by lines,
829, 629·8, 626, and 820 links respectively; thence by the
western bank of the Waipaoa River for a distance of 3475
links or thereabouts; and thence by a line, 1256·5 links, to the
middle of the Waipaoa River aforesaid; and towards the
South-west generally by a line along the middle of the Wai-
paoa River southerly for a distance of 4850 links or there-
abouts; thence by a line, 100 links, to the western bank of
that river; thence by the western bank of the Waipaoa
River aforesaid for a distance of 1300 links; and thence by
lines, 890, 540, 127, and 275 links respectively, to the com-
mencing-point.

Road containing 11 acres 3 roods 24 perches: Commencing
at a point in the middle of the Waipoa River at the northern
extremity of the road (containing 13 acres and 7 perches)
which traverses the Mangataikapua Block (No. 3512).
Bounded towards the West generally by lines, 90, 480, 326·6,
and 300 links, to the western bank of the Waipaoa River;
thence by that bank of the aforesaid river northerly for a
distance of 4140 links or thereabouts; thence by a line, 1310
links; and thence again by the western bank of the Waipaoa
River aforesaid to the Ruahine Stream; and towards the
East generally by a line to the middle of the Waipaoa River;
and thence southerly by a line, 76 chains or thereabouts,
along the middle of that river; and thence by lines, 460,
445·2, 575, and 115 links respectively, to the commencing-
point.

Road containing 7 acres 3 roods 1 perch: Commencing
at a point on the eastern side of the road first hereinbefore
described at a distance of 80 chains or thereabouts from the
Mangatu River, being the middle of the road last above
referred to; and thence continuing north-easterly and
easterly generally for a total distance of 5250 links or there-
abouts to a point on the western side of the road hereinbefore
described (containing 5 acres 2 roods 8 perches) at a dis-
tance of 520 links or thereabouts from the commencing-point
of the latter road.

Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same
are delineated on Maps Nos. 4495, 4495A, 4495B, and 4495C,
deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.

under “The Public Health Act, 1876.”

A PROCLAMATION.

I N pursuance of all powers and authorities conferred upon
me by “The Public Health Act, 1876,” and of all other
powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
notify that the Colony of Tasmania is no longer infected with
the disease called small-pox, and that a Proclamation given
under my hand, and issued under the Seal of the Colony, on
the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-seven, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette of the same date, has no force or effect from the day
of the gazetting hereof.

Altering Boundaries of Winton River District, Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

I N exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” I,
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby alter the boundaries of
the Winton River District, and do hereby proclaim and
declare that the boundaries of the said district shall be
those set forth in the Schedule hereto, and that this Pro-
clamation shall come into force on the first day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the County of Southland, situate in the
Winton and New River Hundreds, bounded towards the
north by a road forming the southern boundaries of Sections
Nos. 29, 16, 15, 14, and 13, Block II., Sections Nos. 25 and
24, Block III., and Section No. 8, Block VIII., East Winton;
towards the east by Block III., Winton Hundred; towards
the south by Section No. 15, Block VIII., East Winton, and
the northern boundary-line of that section produced westerly
across a road; thence again towards the east by that road;
again towards the south and east by Section No. 24, Block
VII., East Winton, and the western boundary-line of that
section produced southerly across a road; thence again
towards the north by that road; again towards the east by
Sections Nos. 37 and 38, Block I., Winton Hundred; again
towards the south by Section No. 34 and its northern
boundary-line produced westerly across a road; thence again
towards the east by that road; again towards the south by
Section No. 21, Block I., aforesaid; again towards the east
by the said Section No. 21, and Sections Nos. 22, 23, and 24,
Block I. aforesaid, and the western boundary-line of the last-
mentioned section produced southerly across a road; thence
again towards the south and east by Section No. 65, Block
IX., New River Hundred; again towards the south by
Section No. 67 and the northern boundary-line of that
section produced westerly across a road; thence again
towards the east by that road; again towards the south by
Section No. 60, Block XIII., New River Hundred, to the
Oreti or New River; thence towards the south-west and
west by that river to the north-western corner of Section No.
63 of the said Block XIII.; thence by a straight line across
a road to the south-western corner of Section No. 34, Block
VII., Winton Hundred; thence by Sections Nos. 35, 32, 29,
26, 23, 20, and 17 of the said Block VII.; again towards the
north by Section No. 15 of the said Block VII. and the
southern boundary-line of that section produced easterly
across a road; thence again towards the West by that road
to the road at the northern boundary of Section No. 12,
Block I., Winton Hundred; thence again towards the north
by that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary-
line of Section No. 1, Block VI., Winton Hundred; thence
again towards the west by a straight line to and thence by
that section and Sections Nos. 2 and 3 of the said Block VI.;
again towards the north by Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4,
Block VI., East Winton; again towards the west by the last-
mentioned section to Eglington Street, in the Township of
Winton; thence again towards the north by that street and
the Great North Road to the south-western boundary of
Section No. 2, Block V., East Winton; thence towards the
south-west by the Great North Road to a road forming the
north-western boundary of Section No. 1, Block V., East
Winton: thence towards the north-west by that road and its
south side produced easterly across a railway reserve to a
point due south of the south-western corner of a mill-site in
Block IV., East Winton; thence again towards the west by
a straight line to that corner; thence again towards the
south-west by railway reserve to Section No. 5 of the said
Block IV.; thence again towards the north, west, and south
by the said Section No. 5; and again towards the south-west
