Result of Poll on Proposal to borrow £300, under the Provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for Expenditure in Formation on the Ihuraua Valley Road, Alfredton Road District.—15th November, 1887.

Number of ratepayers on roll, 11; representing 11 votes. Votes recorded for proposal, 6; number of ratepayers voting for the proposal, 6; votes against, none; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, none; informal, none; votes not recorded, 5; total of votes against, 5.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Kiwitea Road District, County of Oroua.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Kiwitea Road Board, is published in accordance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

The following is the result of poll, taken on the 17th November, 1887, on the proposal to borrow £3,000, under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the Wanganui Harbour Board Block of the Kiwitea Road Board:—

Total number of ratepayers on roll, 59; representing 66 votes. Votes recorded for proposal, 44; number of ratepayers voting for proposal, 38; votes against proposal, nil.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Newton.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Newton, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 184 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886."

SIR,—I have the honour to give you notice that, at a special meeting of the Newton Borough Council, held on the 10th day of October last, a resolution was carried to authorise the raising of a special loan of £2,500 to provide a water-supply and fire-extinguishing plant for Surrey and Sussex Wards, portions of the above borough, in accordance with section 185 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886;" and such resolution was confirmed at a special meeting held on the 8th instant; and a poll of the ratepayers of the above-mentioned wards was taken on the 22nd instant, as provided by section 186 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," and was as follows: For the proposal, 116; against the proposal, 3; total, 119.

As the number of votes polled in favour of the proposal (116) exceeds three-fifths of the total number of the votes polled for and against the proposal (119), I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

I, Robert Taylor Warnock, Mayor of Newton, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by sections 185 and 186 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of Surrey and Sussex Wards, Borough of Newton, for the proposal to raise the special loan of £2,500 above mentioned, have been duly taken, and the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882."
