IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by “The New Zealand State Forest
Act, 1885,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

The Honourable GEORGE FREDERICK RICHARDSON,
Minister of Lands, to be the Commissioner of State Forests,
for the purposes of the said Act, as from the eighth day of
October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of November, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has
applied, on behalf of SAMUEL JOSHUA, ABRAHAM JOSHUA, and
SAUL JOSHUA, all of Queen Street, in the City of Melbourne,
in the Colony of Victoria, Distillers, in partnership trading
together under the firm of “JOSHUA BROTHERS,” to register,
under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of
which the following is a description :—

Description of Trade Mark.

A distinctive device representing a rampant lion with its
tongue out, standing upon the tail of a fancy J forming
portion of a monogram composed of the letters J and B, and

grasping the part of the monogram forming the stump of the
J and back part of the B.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Essences, alcoholic and non-alcoholic; whiskey, gin,
brandy, cordials, and perfumes.

to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade
mark of which the following is a description :—

Description of Trade Mark.

A representation of the letter K in all or any of its
different shapes or forms.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

All kinds of jams, jellies, marmalade, preserved fruits,
vegetables, meats, game, fowls or poultry, fish, candied peel,
essence of and extract of beef, potted meats, patties or patés,
Scotch haggis, sauces, chutneys, ketchups, pickles, vinegars,
confectionery, hams and bacon, devilled meats, fowls, &c.,
soups, broths, potted fish, condensed and preserved milk, coffee
and coffee-essence, cocoa and chocolate, preserved herbs,
mustard, mincemeat, currie powder, curried meats, fowl, &c.,
baking powder, spices, biscuits, coffee and milk, cocoa or
chocolate and milk.

Wairarapa North County Council, is published in
accordance with “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886.”

WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY.

Result of poll taken at Tenui on the 4th November,
1887, upon a proposal to raise a loan under “The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1886,” to construct a road over the
Black Hill, in the Castlepoint Riding :—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 67 ; representing 151
votes. 27 ratepayers, representing 60 votes, voted in favour
of, and 5 ratepayers, representing 13 votes, against, the
proposal; and I therefore declare the same to be rejected.
