Additional Regulation as to Payment of Rewards for Discovery of New Goldfields.

Wellington, 28th June, 1886.

THE following additional regulation for the payment of rewards for the discovery of new goldfields, recommended by the Goldfields Committee on the 22nd June, 1886, having been adopted by the Government, is published for general information.

This regulation applies to the notifications published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th March and 29th October, 1885, offering rewards for gold discoveries.

ADDITIONAL REGULATION.

No claim for a reward for the discovery of gold will be considered by the Goldfields Committee unless such claim be made within one year from the date of the discovery.


Corps disbanded.

Defence Office,
Wellington, 15th November, 1887.

HIS Excellency the Governor has approved of the disbandment of the G Troop, 1st Regiment New Zealand Cavalry (No. 2 or B Troop, Auckland Cavalry Volunteers). Date of disbandment, 3rd November, 1887.

The under-mentioned gentleman therefore ceases to be an officer in the Volunteer Force, his commission having lapsed under the provisions of “The Defence Act, 1886:”—

Run liable to Forfeiture.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of clause 188 of “The Land Act, 1885,” that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is liable to forfeiture if the rent, together with the penalty provided by the Act, be not paid within three months from the present date :

Sale of Unclaimed Property.

THE unclaimed property described hereunder, and now in possession of the police at Whangarei, will, unless previously claimed, be sold by public auction, at the Police-station, Whangarei, on Saturday, the 26th proximo, at noon, in accordance with the Police Regulations :—

Twelve bottles of gin and six bottles of whiskey.

Award by Land Claims Commissioner.

I, the undersigned, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., of the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide claims to land by persons claiming title thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that the claim of George McCaul, as executor of the will of the late Henry Churton, of Wanganui, deceased, having been referred to me by the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, I do hereby decide that the said George McCaul, as executor as aforesaid, is entitled to a Crown grant in fee-simple of all that parcel of land containing 2½ acres or thereabouts, being that part of Section No. 162, left bank of Wanganui River, defined as “Churton’s” on the selection-map in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, at Wellington. Title to be antevested as from the 2nd November, 1849.

Dated at Wellington, the 26th day of October, 1887.

THE land mentioned in the foregoing report is part of 200 acres which the said Henry Churton was entitled to select by virtue of Compensation-scrip Nos. 245, 248, 249, and 250, and which he selected accordingly, as appears by the selection-map in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, at Wellington.
