Fixing Rates of Postage.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of September, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of all authorities vested in him by “The Post Office Act, 1881,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony doth hereby abolish the rates of postage heretofore fixed to be paid within the colony for the transmission of letters, newspapers, and packets to the countries and places set forth in the Schedule hereto, AND in lieu thereof doth order and declare that the postage payable within the colony for the transmission of all letters, newspapers, and packets by post to the said countries and places shall be according to the rates mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and that such postage shall in all cases be paid at the time such letters, newspapers, and packets are delivered into the post; AND, with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, doth further order and declare that this order shall take effect on and after the first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Table of Rates of Postage.
The postage on correspondence for the United Kingdom, and for places in transit through the United Kingdom, by the contract direct steamers, is the same as given in the table of rates of postage for the several places via San Francisco and England.
