Meeting of the General Assembly for the Despatch of Business.

To the LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS of the Colony of NEW ZEALAND and the MEMBERS elected to serve in the HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES of the said Colony, and to every of you—GREETING:

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS on the fifteenth day of the month of July last I did summon and call together the General Assembly of New Zealand to meet on the thirty-first day of the present month of August, at which time you were held constrained to appear: Now know ye that for divers causes and considerations I have thought fit to relieve you and each of you of your attendance at the time aforesaid, hereby convoking and by these presents enjoining you and each of you, and all others in this behalf interested, that on Thursday, the sixth day of the month of October next, personally you be and appear, for the DESPATCH OF BUSINESS, at two o’clock in the afternoon, in the Parliament Houses, situate in Molesworth Street, in the City of Wellington, there to take into consideration the state and welfare of the said Colony of New Zealand, and therein to do as may seem necessary.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Polling-places for General Assembly Elections appointed.

WHEREAS by “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint, alter, and abolish polling-places for each electoral district within the limits thereof, and may appoint any one of such polling-places to be the principal polling-place of the district, and that no polling-place shall be appointed unless the Governor shall be first satisfied that the place to be appointed is more convenient than any other for at least twenty electors to record their votes thereat:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the places mentioned in the Schedule hereto to be polling-places and principal polling-places for the electoral districts therein specified.
