workings, and, if in quartz-workings, proof of a similar yield
from this source within three years from such registration
will be required.
4. Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
desirous of obtaining a reward, shall immediately forward a
written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to the
Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within which
such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or Resident
Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an application for reward.
5. No prospecting is allowed upon Native land without the
approval in writing of the Native Minister, or of someone one
appointed by him in that behalf.
Prospectors going upon Native land without the consent
of the owners are liable to the penalties imposed by the Acts
relating to goldfields, and will forfeit all claim to reward.

WHEREAS on or about the twenty-eighth day of June
last the premises known as the Excelsior Wine
Vaults, situated in Manners Street, in the City of Wellington,
were set on fire:

This is to notify that His Excellency the Governor will
grant a free pardon to any person implicated in the said Act,
not being the principal offender, who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of any
one or more of the other offenders; and that the Phoenix
Fire Office offers a reward of one hundred pounds to any
person not being the principal offender, who shall first give
such required information.
