New Electoral Districts.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Permanent Commission appointed under the provisions of “The Representation Act, 1887,” have this day made their report to me under their hands and seals, setting forth the names and boundaries of the electoral districts fixed by them in accordance with the said Act:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of the fifth section of “The Representation Act, 1887,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the names and boundaries of the electoral districts so fixed by the said Commission to be those respectively mentioned and set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

BAY OF ISLANDS.

This district is bounded towards the South-west, North, and North-east by the ocean from the Maunganui Bluff on the west coast to the Kowhaitai Stream on the east coast; towards the South-east generally by a grant of land (1,560 acres) to G. Thorne, and Block 583 (in red) to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 180, Parish of Owhiwa; again towards the South-west generally by that road and its continuation past Sections Nos. 179, 178, 177, 176, 175, 169, 168, and 167 of the said Parish of Owhiwa to the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 181 of the aforesaid parish, by the last-mentioned section and Sections Nos. 100, 101, 95, 102, 65, 62, 59, 47, 46, 45, 44, and 43 of the Parish of Parahaki to the Huanui Block, by the said Huanui Block, Te Maruata, and the Puketotara Block to the Whangarei River, by the said Whangarei River to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 39, Parish of Whangarei, by the said Section No. 39 and Section No. 38 of the said Parish of Whangarei to the Mangahahuru Stream, and by that stream to its confluence with the Wairua River; towards the South-east by the last-mentioned river and the Wairoa River to the Kaikohe-Mangakahia and Wairoa River Road; again towards the South-west by that road to where it is intersected by a right line drawn from Trig. Station No. 18 (Te Tarai o Rahiri) to Trig. Station No. 43 (Tutamoe); again towards the South-east by the said line to Trig. Station No. 43 (Tutamoe); and towards the South by a right line passing over Trig. Station No. 119 to Maunganui Bluff.

MARS DEN.

This district is bounded towards the North generally by the Bay of Islands Electoral District, hereinbefore described; towards the East generally by the ocean to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 91, Parish of Waipu, at Bream Tail; towards the South-east by the south-eastern boundary-line of that section to its south-eastern corner; thence by a straight line to the Kapawhiti Range at a point where the road from Mangawhai to McKenzie’s Cove crosses it, by the summit of the Kapawhiti Range aforesaid to its intersection by a line due north from the northernmost corner of the Marunui Block, by that line to the Marunui Block aforesaid, and by that block to the Piroa Stream at the northern boundary of the Parish of Kaiwaka; thence by the said Piroa Stream to the road forming the south-western boundary of Section No. 109 of the said Parish of Kaiwaka; towards the South-east by the said road, and Sections Nos. 108, 107, 106, 77, 86, 87, and a Native reserve, all of the Parish of Kaiwaka aforesaid, to the Kaiwaka River, by that river and the Wairau River to the Great North Road, by that road, the Ohungarere Block (No. 2298), the Waikino Blocks Nos. 2196 and 2196A, the Ohungarere Blocks Nos. 3819 and 3620, and the Okahurewa Block No. 4302; towards the South-west generally by the last-mentioned block, the Tumunui, Huarau, and Pukehuia Blocks, and Te Pahi River; towards the West by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 84, 80, 79, 78, 93, and 91, Parish of Wairau, and by Sections Nos. 151 and 152, Parish of Paparoa; towards the South by the said Parish of Paparoa; towards the West by the Parish of Matakohc to the Mangonui River, and by that river to the main road from Tokatoka to Waikickie and Mangapai; again towards the South-east by that road and the Parishes of Omaru and Tokatoka to the Wairoa River; again towards the West by the said Wairoa River to a point opposite to the mouth of the Aratapu Creek; again towards the South by that creek and the Parish of Kopuru to the ocean; and again towards the West by the ocean: including the Hen and Chicken and other adjacent islands.

RODNEY.

This district is bounded towards the North generally by the Marsden Electoral District, hereinbefore described; towards the East generally by the ocean to the Waiwerawera River; towards the South generally by the Parishes of Waiwera and Makarau to the Makarau River, and by the said Makarau River; towards the East and West by high-water mark of the Kaipara Estuary to the Kaipara Heads; and towards the West by the ocean: inclusive of the Great and Little Barrier, Kawau, and other adjacent islands.

WAITEMATA.

This district is bounded towards the North generally by the Rodney Electoral District, hereinbefore described; towards the East by the ocean to the North Head of Waitemata Harbour; towards the South by Waitemata Harbour and the Whau Estuary to Section No. 90 of the Parish of Waikomiti, by that section to the Helensville Railway-line, by that railway-line to the Taupaki Block, and by the southern boundary-line of the said Taupaki Block and the Mokorau River to the ocean: including the Island of Tiritiri.
