THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Council of the County of Taieri, is published in
accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1876,”
and the Acts amending the same.

TAIERI COUNTY.—HENLEY DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that, on Tuesday, the 2nd day
of November, 1886, a poll was taken of the ratepayers in the
above-named district, at the Henley Company’s Woolshed,
at Henley, in the said district, pursuant to the provisions of
“ The Counties Act, 1876,” and “The Regulation of Local
Elections Act, 1876,” upon a proposal to substitute the fol-
lowing proposed new Schedule, in lieu of the one passed at a
poll that was taken in the above-mentioned place and dis-
trict on the 27th of May, 1886.
It is proposed, with the consent of the said ratepayers, to
raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of undertaking
the under-mentioned works in the said Henley Drainage
District :—

Proposed New Schedule.
(a.) Constructing flood-openings into the Taieri River, for
draining lands in the said district, at such places as
may be determined on by the Taieri County Council.
(b.) Cutting new drains.
(c.) Opening up and regrading existing drains and water-
channels.
(d.) Such other operations as may be found necessary in
connection with the construction of the said drainage
works.

And, with the consent of the said ratepayers, to levy a
special rate of ¾d. in the pound, or such less sum as may be
required, on the rateable property in the said district, and to
pledge the same as security for the said loan.
Upon the said poll being taken, there were recorded for
the said proposal, 22 votes, and against the same, 1 vote;
and, after the result of the poll had been ascertained, I gave
public notice of the number of votes recorded for and against
the said proposal, and declared the resolution in favour of
the said proposal to be carried; and I now hereby give you
notice of the aforesaid matter.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Council of the County of Piako, is published in accord-
ance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1886.”

Cambridge, 31st December, 1886.
SIR,—I have the honour to inform you that the Piako County
Council having proposed to borrow, under “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the sum of £1,500 for
public works within the Te Aroha Riding, a poll of ratepayers
was taken at Te Aroha on the 29th instant, which resulted
as under :—

For the proposal .. .. .. 78
Against the proposal .. .. .. 12
Informal .. .. .. 1

And, as the poll was conducted under the provisions of “The
Counties Act, 1876,” and the amendments thereof, I hereby
notify that I have declared the proposal carried.

Mayor of Akaroa, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,”
and of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

NOTICE of the Result of the Poll taken at Akaroa on
Tuesday, the 4th January, 1887, on the Proposal to
raise a Loan of £1,600, under the Provisions of “The
Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and
“ The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886 :”—
Votes for the proposal .. .. .. 93
Votes against the proposal .. .. .. 9
As the number of votes in favour of the proposal exceeds
one-half of the total number of votes which can be exercised,
I declare the proposal to be carried.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,”
be adopted generally within the County of Thames, by special
order.
I hereby certify the above special order was confirmed by
the Thames County Council, at a special meeting, held on
the 18th day of October, 1886, and to take effect as from the
1st day of November, 1886; and that the said special order
was passed in conformity with the provisions of “The Coun-
ties Act, 1876,” and its amendments.

Proposal to raise a Loan of £12,000 under “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans
to Local Bodies’ Act, 1886.”
I HEREBY give notice that, at the poll on Wednesday, the
22nd day of December instant, the votes recorded were as
follows :—
For the proposal .. .. .. 470
Against the proposal .. .. .. 25
Informal votes .. .. .. 6
As a majority in number of the ratepayers have voted
in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are en-
titled to more than one-half in number of the votes
which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers,
I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.
