of goods termed "special goods," unless such goods are declared by the consignor
to be "special goods," and the value is stated in the consignment-note.
The following are the limitations in value, namely:— £ s. d.

Any package containing any special goods ... 10 0 0
Goods declared to be "special goods" are specified in Part V. Any package or
animal which exceeds in value the sum of £500 is also declared to be "special
goods," and will be carried under special contract only. When goods are declared
in the consignment-note to be "special goods," and the value is also stated therein,
an additional charge of one-third of the ordinary rates and charges for each £100 or
fraction of £100 of value so stated will be made thereon.
The value of each package must be separately stated.
(24.) Wanganui and West Coast Jubilee Exhibition.
Goods consigned for exhibit at the Wanganui and West Coast Jubilee Exhibi-
tion, to be held at Wanganui during June, 1887, will be carried free on the New
Zealand Railways, provided that they shall be so carried at the sole risk of the
consignors, and that each package shall be consigned to the Secretary of the
Exhibition, and marked legibly "For Exhibit at Wanganui and West Coast
Jubilee Exhibition;" and that the loading and unloading shall be done at the
expense of the consignors; and that in the event of such exhibits being sold the
full railway charges shall be paid.
Exhibits returning may be conveyed free, provided no sale or exchange has
been effected. A certificate to this effect must be produced, signed by the Secre-
tary of the Exhibition, before the goods can be received for transit free of charge.
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
The following rates will be charged upon the lines herein specified, instead of
the classified rates specified in Parts II. and III. Small lots will be charged as
specified in Part III. Except in the respects specified herein the general regulations
under Parts II. and III. will apply:—
KAWAKAWA SECTION.
Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, E, and H will be charged as Class A, weight or
measurement, as the department may direct.
Native coals, Class P, from the Kawakawa Coal Mine to port for shipment, will
be charged 2s. per ton, including weighing and discharging into ships.
Goods of Classes F, L, M, and N, 15s. per truck.
Goods of Class K, 9d. per 100 superficial feet.
WHANGAREI SECTION.
RATE FOR SHIPS' GOODS, including wharfage.
Between Railway Wharf and
Whangarei
- Goods, Classes A, B, C, D, E ... 2s. 6d. per ton
- " F ... 7s. 0d. per truck
- " H ... 1s. 0d. per bale
- " K ... 0s. 6d. per 100 ft.
- " P and ironstone ...
Coal Mines and other Stations
- 4s. 6d. per ton

- 1s. 0d. per bale
- 0s. 6d. per 100 ft.
- 2s. 0d. per ton
Ships' goods, A, B, C, D, E, will be charged weight or measurement, at the option
of the department; the rate includes all charges. The charges for Classes F, H, K
are exclusive of cost of loading or unloading. The charges for P and ironstone
include weighing and delivery to ship by skip, but do not include loading.
Goods A, B, C, D, and E carried between stations other than above will be
charged as Class A.
Coal to Whangarei from mines will be charged 2s. a ton.
CLASS M.
Goods of Class M carried to or from the railway wharf will be charged 10s. per
truck.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
When goods of Classes A, B, C, D, E, are consigned to Auckland, excepting such
as are consigned to the Auckland Railway Wharf for shipment there, both the
classified rates, Part III., and the local rates following will be increased by 1s. 4d.
per ton, except otherwise specified; the minimum charge for small lots will be
1s. 4d.
Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, E, between Onehunga and Auckland or New-
market, will be charged as follows:—
