THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Maungakawa-Waiorongomai Road, in the Waitoa Road District, shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Regulations for the Searching and Digging for Kauri Gum.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of April, 1887.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fifteenth section of “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby make the following regulations for the privilege of searching and digging for kauri gum in State forests of the colony, namely:—
- Every license to dig and search for kauri gum shall be in the form in the Schedule hereto.
- Every such license shall be liable to forfeiture at any time by the Commissioner of State Forests, in manner provided by section nineteen of “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885.”
- Every person holding a license shall be deemed to be a Forest Ranger under “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885,” and it shall be his duty to prevent, as far as in his power lies, and to assist when called upon to do so, in extinguishing fires in any forest in the vicinity of the State forest over which the license extends.
- Every licensee must produce his license when called upon to do so by any officer of the Crown Lands, Survey, or State Forest Department.
- Every licensee shall be required to take every precaution against the destruction of young forest trees growing within the blocks over which his license extends.

WHEREAS , of , has made application to me for a license to take kauri gum from the block of land known as the Block, which is estimated to contain acres or thereabouts: Now, therefore, I, the undersigned, the Commissioner of Crown Lands at , do hereby authorize the said to search for and take kauri gum from the said block during the months of May, June, July, and August, 188 , subject to the conditions on the back hereof.
