and shall append to such notice a copy of such trade-mark;
and all cases, barrels, or cans containing fish cured and
canned for export by any such person shall, before exporta-
tion, be marked with the trade-mark so registered by him,
and no part of any such bonus shall be payable except in
respect of cases, barrels, or cans so marked.

Progress-payments for Exported Fish.

WITH reference to the notification in the New Zealand
Gazette
of the 12th November, 1885, respecting the
payment of bonuses to persons who prepare canned and
cured fish for export under regulations published on the
same date, it is hereby notified that progress-payments on
account of such bonuses, claimed in accordance with those
regulations, will now be made by this department. Claims
to be for quantities not less than one ton net weight, and to
be sent through the Collector of Customs at the port from
which the fish was exported.

Rewards offered for the Discovery of New Goldfields.—
Amended Conditions.

REWARDS are offered for the discovery of new gold-
fields, upon the conditions set forth hereunder, payable
out of the parliamentary vote of £2,500.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

  1. THE maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
    discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
    tions is £500; but, if the total sum claimed as rewards in
    any one year exceeds the parliamentary vote, the amount
    available only will be divided equally.

  2. The newly-discovered goldfield, if in alluvial ground,
    must be situated not less than ten miles from the nearest
    alluvial gold-workings, or, if in quartz, not less than five miles
    from the nearest existing quartz-mines.

  3. No grant will be paid upon any application until it
    shall have been proved that not less than 20,000 ounces of
    gold have been extracted from the new goldfield within two
    years from the registration of the discovery, if in alluvial
    workings, and, if in quartz-workings, proof of a similar yield
    from this source within three years from such registration
    will be required.

  4. Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
    desirous of obtaining a reward, shall immediately forward a
    written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to the
    Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within which
    such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or Resident
    Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an applica-
    tion for reward.

  5. No prospecting is allowed upon Native land without the
    approval in writing of the Native Minister, or of some one
    appointed by him in that behalf.

Prospectors going upon Native land without the consent
of the owners are liable to the penalties imposed by the Acts
relating to goldfields, and will forfeit all claim to reward.

Additional Regulation as to Payment of Rewards for Dis-
covery of New Goldfields.

THE following additional regulation for the payment of
rewards for the discovery of new goldfields, recom-
mended by the Goldfields Committee on the 22nd June, 1886,
having been adopted by the Government, is published for
general information.

This regulation applies to the notifications published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th March and 29th
October, 1885, offering rewards for gold discoveries.

ADDITIONAL REGULATION.

No claim for a reward for the discovery of gold will be con-
sidered by the Goldfields Committee unless such claim be
made within one year from the date of the discovery.

Tenders for Letter-carriers' Uniform.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 28th March, 1887.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office,
Wellington, until noon of Saturday, the 30th day of
April proximo, for the manufacture within the colony, from
New Zealand-made material, of Letter-carriers' Uniforms,
namely, tunic, trousers, and overcoat.

Samples of clothing may be seen at all chief post offices
throughout the colony.

Tenders, quoting price for each garment, to be addressed
to the Secretary, General Post Office, Wellington, and in-
dorsed outside, "Tender for Letter-carriers' Uniform."

Tenders for Supply of Boxes and Baskets.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 23rd March, 1887.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office,
Wellington, until noon of the 7th day of May,
1887, for the manufacture in the colony of boxes and baskets
to be used in connection with parcels-post business. Samples
of the boxes required, and specification and general con-
ditions, may be seen at the Chief Post Offices at Auckland,
Christchurch, Dunedin, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth,
Invercargill, Hokitika, Greymouth, Oamaru, Timaru, Wel-
ington, and Wanganui.

Samples of baskets required, and specification for the same,
can be seen at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, from the
24th to the 31st March, 1887; at Nelson, from the 2nd to
the 7th April, 1887; at Auckland, from the 11th to the
18th April, 1887; at Christchurch, from the 23rd to the
30th April, 1887; at Dunedin, from the 1st to the 7th
May, 1887.

Tenders to be addressed to the Hon. the Postmaster-
General, General Post Office, Wellington, and marked
"Tender for Parcels-post Boxes and Baskets."

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

THE Postmaster-General and Telegraph Commissioner is
prepared to receive tenders till noon on the 23rd day
of April, 1887, addressed to the Superintendent, Posts and
Telegraphs, General Post Office, Wellington, for printing, at
Auckland, Napier, Wanganui, Blenheim, Nelson, Christ-
church, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill, the
telephone-exchange list for each of the places enumerated;
also any necessary printing required for additions or cor-
rections. Specimen-list can be seen at the offices named.
Tenderers to quote price per 100 lists.

in the possession of the police at Oamaru, will, unless
previously claimed, be sold by public auction, at the Police
Office, Oamaru, on Saturday, the 23rd instant, at noon, in
accordance with the Police Regulations:—

Three silver watches, one silver watch (broken), one brass
watch, gold chain, gold ring, blankets, umbrella, clothing,
and sundries.
