Creating a New District under "The Native Committees
Act, 1883."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by Proclamation issued under "The Native
Committees Act, 1883," bearing date the sixteenth
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-
fourth day of January in the same year, certain districts
therein described were declared to be Native districts under
and for the purposes of the said Act: And whereas it is
expedient to alter the said Proclamation so far as regards a
part of the Rotorua District therein mentioned, and to create
a new district as hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said
Act, do hereby alter the said in part recited Proclamation so
far as concerns the boundaries of the said Rotorua District,
and do hereby declare that the area described in the Schedule
hereto, and which now forms a part of the said Rotorua
District, shall be and the same is hereby declared to be a
Native district for the purposes of the said Act, and except
as affected by this Proclamation the boundaries of the said
Rotorua District shall remain as they were described in the
said Proclamation of the sixteenth day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-four.
And, in further pursuance and exercise of the said power
and authority, I do hereby appoint Herbert William Brabant,
Esquire, the Resident Magistrate at Tauranga, having juris-
diction in the district hereby proclaimed, to be the Returning
Officer therein for the purposes of the election of a Native
Committee under the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
NGAITERANGI.
All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland,
bounded towards the North-west by the County of Thames;
towards the South-west by the County of Piako to the road
from Tauranga to Cambridge, thence by a right line to Otane-
wanuku; towards the South-east by the confiscation boun-
dary-line; and towards the North-east by the sea: also the
adjacent Islands of Mayor and Motiti.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
lington, this ninth day of February, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use, con-
venience, and enjoyment of the Waitaki-Bluff Rail-
way, to take further land at Oamaru, in addition to land
previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on me by "The Public
Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is taken for the purposes above mentioned.
