THE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive
tenders for the supply and delivery of 1,000 twenty-
five (25) feet and 100 thirty-five (35) feet telegraph poles.
Specifications and particulars can be seen, and further
particulars obtained, at the Telegraph Offices, Wellington,
Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Palmerston North, Feilding,
Halcombe, Foxton, and Wanganui.
Tenders, addressed “The Superintendent, New Zealand
Posts and Telegraphs, Wellington,” and indorsed “Tender
for Telegraph Poles,” to be sent in not later than the 10th
January next.

and Textile Fabrics.
JOHN GILL, of No. 121, Kilmore Street, Joiner and Cabinet-
maker, and SAMUEL JOSEPH PICKERING, of No. 130, Con-
ference Street, Fitter, both of Christchurch, New Zealand,
have deposited at this office a specification of the said
invention; and I have appointed Thursday, the 24th day of
March next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to
hear the said application and all objections thereto; and I
require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant
of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 9th day
of March next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to the said application, otherwise they will be
precluded from urging the same.

REMARKS.—Weather generally fine, but very strong wind
from N.W. prevailed, frequently reaching strong gales;
showers at intervals during the month. The maximum
rainfall recorded on 22nd, 1·60in. Maximum temperature in
shade, 69·3°; minimum, 39°. Mean temperature of dew-
point, 50·3°. Mean humidity, 83°. Earthquakes felt on 10th
at 5 a.m., E. and W., slight; 14th, two slight shocks; 26th,
at about 1 a.m., very smart, and at about 3 p.m., E. and W.,
slight.

named in the third column.
