Award by Land Claims Commissioner.

I, GEORGE B. DAVY, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., of the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide claims to land by persons claiming title thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that the claim of Thomas Perronet Edward Thompson, of Liverpool, England, County Court Judge, having been referred to me by the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, I do hereby decide that the said Thomas Perronet Edward Thompson is entitled to a Crown grant in fee-simple of all that parcel of land containing 106 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 6, District of Takapu; also to a Crown grant as aforesaid of all that parcel of land containing 100 acres, more or less, being Section No. 127, Hutt District, except so much thereof as has been taken for railway purposes by Proclamation under the Public Works Act. Title in both cases to vest as from the 17th September, 1839.

Dated at Wellington, this 2nd day of November, 1886.

SECTION No. 6, Takapu, was selected on behalf of the present claimant (Thomas Perronet Edward Thompson) under Land Order No. 975. No dealings therewith of any kind have been registered.

Section No. 127, Hutt, was selected on behalf of the present claimant (the said Thomas Perronet Edward Thompson) under Land Order No. 976. A portion of the land has been taken for railway purposes by Proclamation under the Public Works Act. No other dealings of any kind have been registered.

Native Land Court Notice.

Application for Rehearing of Claim dismissed.

NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND :
DISTRICT OF AUCKLAND.

IN the matter of a judgment of the Court given during a session opened at Herd’s Point, Hokianga, in the said district, on the 15th day of April, 1886, upon the hearing of a claim to succeed to the interest of Hoani Tuoro, deceased, in a block of land situate in the said district, and known as “Mangawhero;” and in the matter of the application of Rewiri Tiopira for a rehearing upon such claim :

I, John Edwin Macdonald, Chief Judge of the said Court, and in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me, do hereby dismiss such application.

Goldfields Notices.

Gold-mining Leases to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such leases.

Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Reefton on or before the 24th day of November, 1886.

Copy of the applications made and plans annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Reefton.


SCHEDULE.

APPLICANT: Thomas H. Lee. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: North Venus Quartz-mining Company. 16 acres 2 roods, at Murray Creek, in the Nelson South-west Mining District.

Applicant: Walter Irving. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: Lone Hand Quartz-mining Company. 16 acres 2 roods, at Devil’s Creek, in the Nelson South-west Mining District.

Applicant: David Young. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: Golden Hill Gold-mining Company. 16 acres 2 roods, at Murray Creek, in the Nelson South-west Mining District.

Sale of Leaseholds, Grey Coal Reserve.

Crown Lands Office,
Hokitika, 4th November, 1886.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leasehold of the sections of land situated on the Grey Coal Reserve No. 274, and described in the Schedules A and B attached hereto, will be offered for sale by public auction at the Railway Goods Station, Brunnerton, on Friday, the 17th December, at 2 p.m., subject to the rents and conditions hereunder set out.

Maps of the sections may be seen at the District Land Office, Hokitika, and the Public Works Office, Greymouth.

Term of leaseholds enumerated on Schedules A and B, fourteen years. Right of re-entry reserved to Government, for coal-mining purposes only, at any time during the currency of the lease, or at the termination thereof, by paying compensation for improvements not exceeding £200.

At same time and place the leasehold for coal-mining purposes of Section No. 711 (see Schedule C), within Grey Coal Reserve, west of Wallsend Coal Company’s lease, and adjoining Kaiata Native Reserve, will be offered for sale at public auction, subject to rents and condition as under.
