Setting apart Land in the Auckland Land District for
Perpetual Leasing under "The Land Act, 1885."

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the one hundred and thirty-fifth sec-
tion of "The Land Act, 1885," and of every other power and
authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby declare that the sections of land enume-
rated in the Schedule hereto shall be set apart for lease,
with right of renewal, under the provisions of Part IV. of
"The Land Act, 1885."
SCHEDULE.
WAIWERA SURVEY DISTRICT.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Auckland, containing by admeasurement 685 acres, more or
less (to be hereafter subdivided into sections), situate in the
Parish of Okura, Waiwera Survey District. Bounded
towards the North-east generally by the Weiti River;
towards the South-east by Section No. 9 of the Parish of
Okura, 4840 links; again towards the North-east by the said
section, 2100 links; towards the North-west by a branch of
the Weiti River; again towards the South-east by Section
No. 10 of the Parish of Okura, 3660 links; towards the
South-west by Section No. 1 of the said parish, 13675 links;
towards the North-west by a line, 1450 links; towards the
North-east by Section No. 2 of the aforesaid parish, 3200
links; and towards the North-west generally by Duck Creek
to the point of commencement: save and except a road-line,
100 links wide, which intersects the eastern portion of the
area hereinbefore described.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this second day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six.

Regulations for the Establishment of Village Homestead
Special-settlement Associations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day
of November, 1886.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and sixty-third section
of "The Land Act, 1885," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and
repeal regulations for fixing the terms and conditions upon
which the lands in any special settlement shall be disposed
of, and the mode of payment for the same :
And whereas it is deemed expedient to make further regu-
lations for the establishment of village homestead special-
settlement associations :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me
by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby fix the following terms and conditions as
those upon which village homestead special-settlement asso-
ciation blocks shall be disposed of on perpetual leasing, and
the mode of payment for the same.
REGULATIONS.

Any association of persons of not less than twelve, who
may be desirous of settling on Crown lands adjacent to
each other, may arrange with the Government for a block of
land on the following general conditions :β -
Before a block of land is set apart under these regula-
tions, a deposit of 10s. will be required from the secretary of
the association on behalf of each member thereof. The
secretary shall also furnish the Commissioner of Crown
Lands for the district with the name and address of each
member of the association. -
In the event of any member withdrawing before the
allotment of the sections, the deposit of 10s. will be forfeited,
but another person may take the place of the member so
withdrawing on payment of a further sum of 10s. -
On approval of any block of land that may be selected,
the necessary surveys will be executed by the Government. -
The allotment of sections to members of the association
shall be made at such time and in such manner as the asso-
ciation may, with the consent of the Commissioner of Crown
Lands, determine. -
The land to be selected under these regulations shall
be held on perpetual lease for the first term of thirty years,
and for subsequent terms of twenty-one years, without any
right of acquiring the freehold.
