whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to
vest the said land in the Corporation of the Borough of West-
port:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of
"The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby declare that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the said reserve
shall become vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses
of the Borough of Westport, in trust, for a site for an
athenæum.
SCHEDULE.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, in the Borough of Westport, being
part of a public reserve, and situate at the corner of Palmer-
ston and Lyndhurst Streets, having a frontage of 100 links to
Palmerston Street and 250 links to Lyndhurst Street.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first
day of September, 1886.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that the burgess
roll of the Borough of Kaiapoi for the year com-
mencing on the first day of June, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-six, was prepared and completed after the
times required by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
and it is expedient to validate the same:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," doth hereby
declare that the burgess roll of the said Borough of Kaiapoi
for the year commencing the first day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-six, so made as aforesaid, shall be
as valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had
been made within the times required by the said Act.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

perty-tax Commissioner failed to deliver to the
Borough of Sydenham the valuation roll of the said borough
within the time prescribed by "The Rating Act, 1882:" And
whereas doubts have arisen as to the validity of such valua-
tion roll, and it is therefore expedient to validate the same
as provided by the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power con-
ferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby declare that the valuation roll of the said
Borough of Sydenham so delivered as aforesaid shall be as
valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had
been delivered within the time required by the said "Rating
Act, 1882."

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve at
Westport.

WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," it is,
amongst other things, enacted that the Governor
may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or
alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter
vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the pur-
poses named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case of any
reserves made under the authority of section two hundred
and twenty-seven of "The Land Act, 1885," if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose
of such reserves or any part thereof from the purpose or pre-
sumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other pur-
pose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expe-
dient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve
for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more
purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by
notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to make such
change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in
such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same
is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," aforesaid, declare
my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve
described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the
specific purpose set opposite such description in the second
column of the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
Description and Purpose of Reserve. Intended Purpose.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 22 perches, more or less, situate in the Land District of Nelson, being portion of a reserve for public buildings, Town of Westport, and described as follows: Commencing at a point on the south side of Henley Street distant 165ft, in a westerly direction from its intersection with Russell Street, having a frontage to Henley Street of 60ft. by a depth of 100ft. Reserved as a site for public buildings or other purposes of the General Government.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-six.

Regulations under "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867."

In pursuance of the powers and authorities in him vested
by "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867," His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby
make the following regulations for the Wellington and Wai-
rarapa Acclimatisation District.
REGULATIONS.
-
LICENSES to fish for trout in the rivers in that district or
part of the North Island to the southward of the following
boundary-line: Commencing from the mouth of the Mana-
watu River and following the course of that river to the
Manawatu Gorge; thence in a direct line from such Gorge to
the mouth of the Waimata River, on the East Coast, known
as "the Wellington and Wairarapa Acclimatisation District,"
will be issued under the hand of the Secretary of the Welling-
ton Acclimatisation Society (hereinafter termed "the said
society"), or any one authorized by the said Secretary in
that behalf, and for every such license a fee of twenty shillings
will be charged: Provided it shall not be obligatory upon
the said Secretary or his deputy to issue a license. -
The Secretary of the said society may issue day licenses
to bonΓ’ fide travellers and strangers not resident within the
district aforesaid, on their introduction to him by any two
members of the said society, and on payment of a fee of two
shillings and sixpence for each day's fishing: Provided that
this payment may be remitted if the applicant be a member
of or hold a valid license from any other society in New
Zealand which grants the like privilege. -
Any holder of a license may fish with one rod and line
for trout, and may use a landing-net or gaff to secure any
trout caught with such rod and line, in the above-named
rivers, from the first day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-six, to the thirty-first day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, both inclusive. -
No license shall authorize any person other than the
person named therein to fish, and that with natural or arti-
ficial fly or minnow only. -
Any person fishing either without a license, or with any
other bait than as aforesaid, or who shall, on demand of any
