Situate in the Arawata Survey District.—On the west bank of the Arawata River; most of the sections adjoining the holdings of Jackson’s Bay settlers, and comprising scattered allotments between the sea-coast and the Rocky Island Bridge-site, abreast of Lake Mary.
Abstract of Conditions relating to Leases under Section 161.
Any person of seventeen years of age and upwards may become a lessee. If more than one apply for the same allotment on the same day, the tenancy is decided by lot. Full valuations for improvements are allowed in renewals and transfers of leases. One-twentieth to be cultivated at the end of the first year, one-tenth at the end of the second, and one-fifth at the end of the fourth. Substantial improvements to the extent of £1 per acre to be effected by the end of the sixth year. Personal residence for the first two years of the lease not necessary. Declaration as per form below. Six months’ rent, together with the sum of £1 10s., cost of lease, &c., required to be deposited in cash or by marked cheque when making the application.
Form of Declaration.
I, A.B. [Here insert place of abode and occupation], do solemnly and sincerely declare—
- That I am of the age of seventeen years and upwards.
- That I am the person who, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1885,” am tendering for the purchase of a lease.
- That I am purchasing such lease solely for my own use and benefit, and for the purposes of cultivation, and not, directly or indirectly, for the use or benefit of any other person whomsoever.
- That, including the said lands, I am not the owner, tenant, or occupier, directly or indirectly, either by myself or jointly with any other person or persons, of any lands anywhere in the colony exceeding in the whole fifty acres.
- That I have not, within seven years from the date hereof, surrendered a lease with perpetual right of renewal of the lands for a lease whereof I am now tendering.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
