Native Land Court Notice.
Notice of Sitting of the Native Land Court.
NOTICE is hereby given that a sitting of the Native
Land Court will be held at Gisborne on Tuesday,
the 17th day of August, 1886, for the purpose of ascertaining
what amount of compensation ought to be paid to the Native
owners of the land known as Te Karaka and Ruangarehu,
with respect to the land taken under an Order in Council
dated the 29th day of December, 1885, for road purposes, in
Waikohu Survey District, Cook County; and also for the
purpose of ascertaining who are the proper persons entitled
to receive such compensation, and what land is affected by
the said Order in Council.

Notice of Sitting of the Native Land Court.
NOTICE is hereby given that a sitting of the Native
Land Court will be held at Gisborne on Tuesday,
the 17th day of August, 1886, for the purpose of ascertaining
what amount of compensation ought to be paid to the Native
owners of the land known as Te Karaka, Te Tao, Tangutu-
hanui No. 1, Waihora, and Waihora No. 1, with respect to the
land taken under an Order in Council dated the 29th day of
December, 1885, for a portion of the Gisborne–Opotiki main
road deviation; and also for the purpose of ascertaining who
are the proper persons entitled to receive such compensation,
and what land is affected by the said Order in Council.

Notice under “Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883.”
I, JOHN EDWIN MACDONALD, Chief Judge of the Native
Land Court, do hereby, in compliance with the duty
imposed upon me by “The Native Land Laws Amendment
Act, 1883,” give notice that on the 20th day of July, 1886,
the title to the land mentioned in the Schedule herein
became, within the meaning of the said Act, ascertained;
and, further, that dealings with the said land will cease to
be prohibited by the provisions of the said Act on the 29th
day of August, 1886.
SCHEDULE.
NAME by which land is known: Paraeroa. Native Land
Court District wherein situate: Gisborne. Area: 1,026
acres.

Goldfields Notices.
Gold-mining Lease to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The
Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Lyell on or before the 27th day of
September, 1886.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden’s Office at Lyell.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANTS: Charles Fellows and David Faulkner. Style
under which it is intended to conduct the business: The
Better Times Quartz-mining Company. 16 acres 2 roods, at
Owen River, in the Nelson South-west Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Nelson, this twenty-ninth
day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six.
