NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-
RACE.
To the Mining Registrar at Clyde of the Otago Goldfields
Mining District, and all other persons whom it may con-
cern.
TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race
and divert water, under the provisions of section 31 of
"The Mines Act, 1877," commencing at a point in the Wai-
puna Creek, and terminating at my farm, known as "The
Elms," on the Dunstan Flat.
The length of such race is two miles, or thereabouts, and
its intended course is north-east and south-west. The course
of such race, which is partly constructed, is down the Wai-
puna Creek to the Waikerikeri Creek, thence across the said
creek and along the Waikerikeri Valley to the termination.
The mean depth of such race is 1 foot, and the mean
breadth 1 foot 6 inches, and it is proposed to divert one
Government-head of water.
Dated at Clyde, this 8th day of July, 1886.

must lodge his objection in writing at the Registrar's Office
at Clyde within fourteen clear days from the date hereof.

KAIKOURA COUNTY COUNCIL.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the
Kaikoura County Council to execute a certain public
work, to wit, the construction of a road in the County of
Kaikoura, in the Provincial District of Marlborough, and for
the purposes of such public work to take, under the pro-
visions of "The Public Works Act, 1882," the lands described
in the Schedule hereto; and notice is hereby further given
that copies of the plans of the said road and of the lands so
required to be taken are deposited at the office of the
Kaikoura County Council, at Kaikoura, and are there open
for inspection; and notice is hereby further given that all
persons affected by the execution of the said public work or
by the taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-
grounded objections to the execution of the said public work
or to the taking of such lands set forth the same in writing,
and send such writing, within forty days from the 29th day
of July, 1886, to the Clerk of the Kaikoura County Council,
at Kaikoura.
SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
2 acres and 39 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Mount Fyffe, Provincial District of Marlborough,
being portion of Section No. 41, Kaikoura Suburban, com-
mencing at the easternmost corner of, and bounded on the
North-east by, the north-east boundary of the said section, a
distance of 2491·5 links or thereabouts; on the South-west
by a line parallel to aforesaid section, a distance of 2535
links or thereabouts, and 1 chain distant therefrom; and on
the North-west and South-east by public roads. -
All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
4 acres 1 rood 26 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey
District of Mount Fyffe, Provincial District of Marlborough,
being portion of Sections Nos. 32 and 33, Kaikoura Suburban,
commencing at a point opposite the westernmost corner of
Section No. 40, and bounded on the North-east by a line
drawn to a point on the north-west boundary of Section No.
33 109 links or thereabouts from the easternmost corner
of Section No. 63, a distance of 4200 links; and on the
South-west by a line parallel to the north-east boundary,
and 1 chain distant therefrom; on the South-east by a
public road; and on the North-west by Crown lands.

three months cannot be subscribed for.
Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.
Advertisements are charged at the uniform rate of 6d. per
line for each insertion.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the
paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible
hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across
the face of the advertisement.
Booksellers and Advertising Agents will be allowed a com-
mission at the rate of 5 per cent.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday even-
ing in each week, and notices for insertion must be received
by the Government Printer before two o'clock of the day
preceding publication.
Communications should be addressed to the Government
Printer, Wellington, to whom post office money orders should
be made payable.
