The lands are situate adjacent to the Mangaramarama and Mangaone Streams, commencing about two miles east of the Makakahi Bridge, at Pahiatua Rock, Forty-mile Bush. Road-lines have been laid off from the bridge and from the end of the Hawera Road, which intersect the whole area. The former road has been felled and formed to a point three-quarters of a mile in from the bridge, and on the Mangaone Valley Road, from the end of the Hawera Road, about two miles of road-clearing and felling have been effected. The country is generally hilly or broken, with some small flats in the valleys. The quality of the soil varies from fair to good; the formation is papa, and a little limestone in places. The bush consists of rimu, rata, tawa, hinau, maire, tawhero, &c., and the undergrowth of rangiora, konini, supplejacks, &c.

This land is situate at the back of the existing settlements near Featherston, and extends from the Tauherinikau River southwards. Road-lines have been laid off to give access to these lands, but have not been cleared or formed. The country varies from undulating to mountainous, the soil from poor to good; the forest consists generally of birch with mixed bush in places.

The land is situate on the south bank of the Tiraumea River, north-east of the Pahiatua Village Special Settlement, about six miles from Woodville. Access to the block can be obtained either by the river or by a felled and cleared road from the Mangatainoka Bridge. The country is flat and undulating, with hills at the back. The soil is good. The forest is principally tawa, with patches of kahikatea, &c., and the undergrowth consists of dense supplejacks, ramarama, &c.

Some of the sections are covered with tawai (black birch),
