  • The hay crop in Patangata County, Hawke's Bay Provincial District, reported to be a total failure.

Note.—In the returns of Agricultural Statistics as above summarized, gardens (9,429 acres), orchards (12,479 acres), plantations of forest-trees (24,352 acres), holdings of one acre or less in extent, and holdings occupied by aboriginal natives, are not included. The total acreage in the column "In other crops" (21,996 acres), includes 3,286 acres in maize and sorghum, 1,507 in rye and bere, 10,530 in peas and beans, 3,437 in mangold, beet, carrots, &c., 714 in hops, 34 in tobacco, and 2,488 in other crops.
