Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. BELL, GULLY, AND IZARD, of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitors, have applied, on behalf of ARTHUR YATES, of Auckland, in the said colony, Seed Merchant, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark.
The words “Yates’ celebrated bird seed,” and the figure of a canary-bird perched upon a cross-bar.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
Mixed canary-seed.

ROBERT STOUT.
TELEGRAM FROM THE PRINCE OF WALES TO THE GOVERNOR OF NEW ZEALAND.
At a meeting of the Royal Commission for the Colonial and Indian Exhibition, 3rd May, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: “That an early opportunity be taken for conveying to the Colonial Governments the sincere thanks of the Royal Commission for having so thoroughly realized our views as to the form this Exhibition should take. That our warmest acknowledgments are also due to the Executive Commissioners and to the Colonial Commissioners.”

Jubilee Exhibition in South Australia.

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that he has received a despatch from His Excellency the Governor of South Australia informing him that an International Exhibition will be held at Adelaide, in the year 1887, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the province, and the completion of the fiftieth year of the reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria.
Applications for space in the building must be forwarded to Mr. John Fairfax Conigrave, the Secretary of the Exhibition in Adelaide, or to the Secretary of the Commission, in London, not later than 1st January, 1887. Applications must be made through the Commission, or other official representative of the country or colony to which the applicant belongs; but, in the event of no such representative existing, intending exhibitors can communicate direct as above.
Space up to twenty square feet will be free, but any excess of that quantity will be charged for at the rate of 1s. per foot for floor-space, and 6d. per foot for wall-space, excepting sculpture and paintings approved by the Fine Arts Committee, which will be admitted free. Special arrangements may, however, be made for machinery and bulky goods.
Articles intended for exhibition will be received on and after the 1st day of March, 1887, and not later than the 20th day of May, 1887, unless further time is allowed by the Executive Committee.

Time and Place for First Meeting of Contributors to North Wairarapa Benevolent Society.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in terms of section 49 of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” appointed Wednesday, the 12th day of May instant, at 5.30 o’clock p.m., to be the time, and the Public Institute, Masterton, to be the place, for the first meeting of the contributors to the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force on and after the 17th day of May, 1886:—
PART II.—LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
The additional charge upon all parcels consigned to Auckland will be 4d. for each cwt. or part of a cwt.
PART III.—GOODS.
CLASSIFIED RATES.
Class B, for each mile after 252 miles, will be charged 1d. per ton.
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
When goods of classes A, B, C, D, E, are consigned to Auckland, except such as are consigned to the Auckland Railway Wharf for shipment there, both the classified rates, Part III., and the local rates will be increased by 1s. 4d. per ton, except otherwise specified; the minimum charge for small lots will be 1s. 4d.

Making By-laws for regulating the Traffic over the combined Road and Railway Bridge at Te Aroha.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following by-laws for regulating the traffic over the combined road and railway bridge at Te Aroha, being a drawbridge used both for ordinary and railway traffic; such by-laws to come into force from and after the 17th day of May, 1886:—
- Persons requiring to take vessels through the water-way of the drawbridge must apply to the Stationmaster at Te Aroha,
