HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint
BENJAMIN TANNER
to be the Town Clerk of the Borough of Devonport, and also Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors of the said borough; also to appoint Tuesday, the 8th June, 1886, for the election of Mayor, Thursday, the 10th June, 1886, for the election of Councillors, and Friday, the 11th June, 1886, for the election of Auditors of the said borough; and also to appoint Monday, the 14th June, 1886, at 7 o’clock in the evening, to be the time, and the office of the late Devonport Road Board, Devonport, to be the place, for the first meeting of the Borough Council of the said borough.

Special Order made by the Waipawa County Council.—Ruatanīwha Road District constituted.

THE following special order, made by the Waipawa County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT in pursuance of a petition presented to the Waipawa County Council under the provisions of section 4 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” all that portion of the Waipawa County bounded as described in the Schedule hereto shall be constituted a road district, under “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” to be named the Ruatanīwha Road District.
Schedule.
That the present portion of the boundary-line between the said road districts, being all that portion commencing on the North from the Waipawa River, and running in a southerly direction to the Tukipo River, be abolished, and the following boundaries substituted in lieu thereof: Commencing at the point where the present boundary cuts the Tukipo River; then following the Tukipo River to south-east corner of Block 65; from the said south-east corner of Block 65 running in a westerly direction along the southern boundaries of Blocks 65 and 64; thence in a northerly direction by a road to the north-east corner of Block 71; thence in a westerly direction to the north-west corner of Block 71; thence in a northerly direction to south-east corner of Block 74; thence in a westerly direction along the southern boundaries of Blocks 74, 76, and 77; thence in a line running due west to boundary of provincial district; thence in a north-easterly direction to intersection of Waipawa River; thence in an easterly direction along the south bank of the Waipawa River to the starting-point. That the area included in the above substituted boundaries be included in the Ruatanīwha Road District, and be a portion of the same.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. J. K. FANN AND Son, of the British and Foreign Patent Office, 10, Leinster Street, Dublin, Ireland, Consulting Engineers and Solicitors of Patents, have applied, on behalf of Messrs. JOHN JAMESON AND SON, of Bow Street, Dublin, Ireland, Distillers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description:—
Description of Trade Mark.
An oblong label bearing in conspicuous type the words “John Jameson & Son,” “Dublin Whiskey,” arranged in an oval form, and partly enclosing the initials “J. J. & S.,” surmounted by a star, and flanked to the left by the word “Established,” and to the right by the date “A.D. 1780,” while underneath is the address, “Bow St. Distillery.” On the lower portion of the label is a paragraph, signed by a facsimile of the signature of the firm, requesting the attention of consumers to this special export label, to the name on corks, capsules, and cases, and also to the age mark.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that THOMAS GEORGE DE RENZY, of Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, Importer and Agent, has applied to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark.
The words “Transfer for outside,” to be used under the word “English” and between the words “Gold” and “Leaf,” either printed, stamped, or written, and placed at any part on the outside or inside of the packages.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Incorporation of Wakatipu District Hospital as a Separate Institution.
Premier’s Office,
Wellington, 5th May, 1886.
HIS Excellency the Governor in Council directs it to be notified, in terms of section 43 of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” that he has received a petition from over 50 contributors to the Wakatipu District Hospital, to which is annexed a verified list of 101 persons, in terms of section 38 of the said Act, praying that the Wakatipu District Hospital may be incorporated as a separate institution; and that if no counter-petition, signed by an equal or greater number of such persons, shall have been delivered at the office of the Colonial Secretary within one month after the publication of this notice, or if the District Board shall not have lodged with the Colonial Secretary within the same time an objection to such petition, the Governor in Council will declare the said hospital to be a separate institution under the said Act.

HIS Excellency the Governor in Council directs it to be notified, in terms of section 43 of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” that he has received a petition from 109 subscribers to the Lyttelton Orphanage, praying that the Lyttelton Orphanage may be incorporated as a separate institution; and that if no counter-petition, signed by an equal or greater number of such persons, shall have been delivered at the office of the Colonial Secretary within one month after the publication of this notice, or if the United Board shall not have lodged with the Colonial Secretary within the same time an objection to such petition, the Governor in Council will declare the said orphanage to be a separate institution under the said Act.
