Extending Close Season for Rock-oysters in Hauraki
Gulf, &c.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of March, 1886.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884”
(hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among
other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from
time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the
purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall
have force and effect only in any waters or places specified
therein:
And whereas by Orders in Council dated the twenty-seventh
day of March, the seventeenth day of September, and the
second day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
five, certain regulations were made in exercise of the powers
conferred by the said Act, prescribing a close season for rock-
oysters:
And whereas it is now expedient to extend such close
season and the operation of the said regulations in respect
of the parts of the colony hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers conferred on me by the said Act, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, do hereby make the following regulation:—
The close season for rock-oysters prescribed by the regula-
tions made under the said Act by Order in Council bearing
date the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-five, is hereby extended, as also the
operation of the said recited regulations, until the thirty-
first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
nine, in respect of the foreshore of the coast and of all
islands in Hauraki Gulf and Frith of Thames within a line
drawn from Point Rodney to the mouth of the Waikawau
River, and also in respect of the foreshores of the coast and
all islands adjacent thereto between Ngatoka Rarangui
Point on the north, and Bream Head on the south.
Any person committing a breach of the above regulation
shall be liable to a penalty of not less than one pound and
not exceeding fifty pounds.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by the thirteenth section of
“The Fisheries Encouragement Act, 1885” (herein-
after termed “the said Act”), that the Governor may, by
Order in Council, regulate or prohibit the exportation of any
fish caught or produced in the waters of the colony: And
whereas it is also provided by the said Act that the term
“fish” shall include oysters: And whereas it is advisable
to prohibit the exportation of the oysters known as “rock
oysters”:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers conferred on me by the said Act, and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby, from the date hereof, prohibit the exporta-
tion from the colony of all rock oysters taken or produced in
the waters of the said colony.
