Wellington, 9th March, 1886.
PATENT for an Invention for the saving of Brooms, and
to assist in the Labour of removing Rubbish, &c., by
them, and called "Hume's Patent Broom-guard."
JAMES AITCHISON HUME, of Auckland, in the Colony of
New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification
of the said invention; and I have appointed Tuesday,
the 25th day of May next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at
this office, to hear the said application and all objections
thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in
opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or
before the 10th day of May next, at this office, particulars
in writing of their objections to the said application, other-
wise they will be precluded from urging the same.

Gold-mining Lease to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicant
specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged
with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 3rd day of
April, 1886.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden's Office at Queenstown.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: George Francis Bullen. Style under which it is
intended to conduct the business: The Phoenix Company.
16 acres, at Skipper's Creek, in the Wakatipu Mining Dis-
trict.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this third day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
six.
