GEORGE DALGLEISH, of Oamaru, Timber Merchant, has deposited at this office a specification of the said invention; and I have appointed Thursday, the 20th day of August next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said application and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 5th day of August next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

REMARKS.--A very wet month almost throughout, at times bright during day, but wet nights; prevailing N.W. and S.E.
winds, and frequently stormy and cold; hail on 14th and 15th; cold in early part of month, but on the whole temperature above the average. Maximum temperature in shade, 62; minimum temperature in shade, 38: maximum rainfall on 26th, .800in.; average dewpoint, 48.1; average humidity (saturation=100), 80.

Tenders for Telegraph Poles.
General Post Office,

THE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive tenders for the supply and delivery of two hundred and fifty (250) poles for a line of telegraph between Woodville and Pahiatua, and for the carriage only, from Palmerston North, of wire, arms, bolts, and insulators for the above line.
Specifications and particulars can be seen, and further particulars obtained, at the Telegraph Offices, Wellington, Masterton, Palmerston North, Woodville, and Danevirk.
Tenders addressed "The Superintendent, New Zealand Posts and Telegraphs, Wellington," and indorsed "Tender for Poles," to be sent in not later than the 26th day of June next.

Native Land Court Notice.
Application for Rehearing of Claim dismissed.
NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND:
DISTRICT OF GISBORNE.
IN the matter of a judgment of the Court, given during a session opened at Hastings, in the said district, on the 8th day of July, 1884, upon the hearing of a claim for investigation of title to land situate in the said district, and known as "Mangaohane;" and in the matter of the several applications for a rehearing upon such claim:
I, John Edwin Macdonald, Chief Judge of the said Court, and in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me, do hereby dismiss such application.

Gold Fields Notices.
Gold-Mining Lease cancelled.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 5th June, 1885.
IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:--
Ah Ung and others; No. 739, Section 19, Block I., Naseby Survey District, containing 5 acres.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of "The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Reefton on or before the 24th day of June, 1885.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be seen at the Warden's Office at Reefton.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: Robert Cairns. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: "The Wonder Gold-Mining Company." 16 acres 22 perches, at Rainy Creek, Reefton (formerly leased by Balaclava Gold-Mining Company), Nelson South-West Mining District.
