Superintendents of Quarantine appointed.

Wellington, 20th May, 1885.

THE administration of that part of “The Public Health Act, 1876,” which relates to quarantine having been transferred from the Department of the Colonial Secretary to that of the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under the provisions of the said Act, to appoint the under-mentioned Collectors of Customs to be Superintendents of Quarantine at the ports specified after their respective names :—

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that WALTER LAWRY BULLER, of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of J. C. FRESE AND CO., of Hamburg, in Germany, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description :—

Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of the head and shoulders of a man (J. C. Frese, the inventor), upon a black ground of a circular shape, the same being surrounded by a circular line, round the outside of which line are the words, “J. C. Frese & Co.’s Hamburger Thee,” in large-sized letters, with a scroll at the foot of the device, the whole being then surrounded by two circular lines.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

A specific medicine known as “Hamburg Tea,” whether in packages, boxes, or otherwise howsoever.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALFRED DE LISSA, of 313, George Street, Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales, Solicitor, has applied, on behalf of HENRY CAMPBELL AND CO., of Mossley, Belfast, Ireland, Flax-spinners and Linen Thread Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description :—

Description of Trade Mark.

A circular label, consisting of three concentric circles enclosing (within a trefoil figure having fanciful ornamentations at the indentations) a representation of the head of a bull, and the words “Trade Mark.” On the space between the second and third circles are the name and words, “Henry Campbell & Co., Belfast.” The said label is printed in red and black, on a white ground, but may be printed in any colour or combination of colours.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply

Linen thread, and thread made from hemp, China grass, or any other materials, and known as linen thread.

Bonus for Kerosene.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 18th February, 1885.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of kerosene under the following conditions :—

A bonus of sixpence per gallon will be paid on kerosene produced within the colony to an extent not exceeding 50,000 gallons, in quantities of not less than 10,000 gallons at a time; the kerosene to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a fair average market price.

Conditions.

  1. Notice of intention to claim the above bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1885.

  2. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1886.

  3. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  4. The other conditions as to quantity, priority, quality, and value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.
