Defining Hororata Water-race, County of Selwyn.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the third section of “The Hororata Water-race Act, 1881” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that, for the purpose of avoiding all doubt as to the water-race referred to by the said Act, it should be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation, to define within the boundaries of the country shown in the plan deposited in the Private Bill Office the exact limits of such water-race and the streams for supplying the same, or so that such description may cover such portion of it as may not then be completed; and such water-race so defined may, for all purposes, be referred to as the Hororata Water-race: And whereas it is desirable that the boundaries of the said water-race should be fixed and defined:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Hororata Water-race shall be those more particularly set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area situate in the Hororata Survey District, County of Selwyn, being part of Section No. 24318, Block X., containing by admeasurement 2 roods 26 perches, more or less, commencing at the Hororata River. Bounded towards the South-east by Sleemen’s Road, 267 links; thence towards the South-west by a line bearing 319° 19′, 101·7 links; thence by another line bearing 342° 59′, 211·8 links; thence towards the North-west by a line bearing 1° 56′, 251·6 links; and thence towards the North-east by the Hororata River aforesaid to the place of commencement.

Also all that strip of land, 50 links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Hororata, Hall, and Selwyn, County of Selwyn, the south side of which commences at a point on the western side of Sleemen’s Road at the southernmost corner of the hereinbefore-described area, and proceeds thence easterly and southerly, intersecting Sections Nos. 33877, 23778, 23777, 28339, 29089, 26847, 28338, 32833, and 32868 respectively, Reserve No. 1764 (in red), a tramway reserve, No. 1675 (in red), and Sections Nos. 26891, 29052, 26890, 30717, 29058, and 27011 respectively, to the Rakaia Terrace Road; thence south-easterly along the northern side of that road to a point about 300 links distant in a westerly direction from the easternmost corner of Section No. 28817, Hall Survey District.

Also all that area situate in the Selwyn Survey District, County of Selwyn, being part of Section No. 28817, containing by admeasurement 26 perches, more or less, commencing at the easternmost corner of the said Section No. 28817. Bounded thence towards the South by the Rakaia Terrace Road for a distance of 325 links; thence towards the North-west by other part of the said Section No. 28817 for a distance of 222·2 links; and thence towards the North-east by a public road for a distance of 160 links to the point of commencement.

Also all that area, 16 links in width, situate in the Selwyn Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at a point on the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 28817 about 120 links from its south-eastern corner, and running in a north-easterly direction along a bearing of 99° 35′ 50′ across two roads and through Sections Nos. 23191, 26948, 23192, 26948 (aforesaid), 23193, 26948 (aforesaid), 23194, 25817, 24803, 26948 (aforesaid), 23447, and 26948 (aforesaid) to the north-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 26948 aforesaid and of Reserve No. 2427 and across a road to a point on the western boundary of Section No. 28858 13 links distant from its south-western corner.

Also all that area situate in the Selwyn Survey District, County of Selwyn, being part of Section No. 28858, containing by admeasurement 0·3 perch, commencing at the south-western corner of the said Section No. 28858. Bounded thence towards the West by a road for a distance of 13 links; towards the North-east by other part of Section No. 28858 aforesaid for a distance of 33·5 links; and towards the South by a road for a distance of 30·5 links to the point of commencement.

Also all that area, 6 links in width, situate in the Selwyn Survey District, County of Selwyn, commencing at a point on the northern side of the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 28858 30·5 links distant from the south-western corner of that section, and proceeding thence along the northern side of the said road and its extension past Section No. 28859 and through Sections Nos. 24797 and 24795 respectively to the eastern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section.

Also all that area, 6 links in width, situate in the Survey Districts of Hall and Selwyn, County of Selwyn, commencing on the north side of the Rakaia Terrace Road at the western corner of Reserve No. 2289, and proceeding thence along the south side of a road forming the northern boundary of the said Reserve No. 2289 and of Sections Nos. 32385, 32384, 32146, 33238, 30754, 30071, 30752, 31422, 30753, 30751, 29767, and 29662 to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence across a road and along the northern
