Thursday, the 4th June, 1885, at 2 o’clock p.m., when the highest tenderer (if the tenders shall equal or exceed the upset fixed annual rental per acre) will be declared the lessee.

Forms of tender and declaration can be obtained at any Crown Lands Office in the colony.

Any person of the age of eighteen years and upwards may become a lessee under this system. In the event of any person tendering for two or more leases, the deposit of a sum equal to one-half year’s rent of the tender largest in amount shall be sufficient, together with a sum of £1 10s. to pay for the lease and registration thereof, paid either in cash, marked cheque, or bank draft, made payable to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Auckland.

Limits of Area for each Lessee: No lease shall be made to any person owning, nor shall any person be capable of becoming the lessee under a lease or a sub-lease who owns, any freehold land, or land held under lease or license under the Crown, whereby such person shall become either the owner, tenant, or occupier in the whole, either by himself or jointly with any other person or persons, including the lands comprised in the lease, of a greater area than 640 acres anywhere in the colony.

Description of Land: All these sections are covered with forest. Section 1 contains about 25 acres flat land, remainder hilly, covered with red, white, and black pine, tawa, &c.; good soil on the flat, frontage to the Waiwhero Stream. Section 2: About 10 acres flat land, remainder covered with heavy timber, well watered, frontage to Motu River. Section 3: About 30 acres flat land, remainder broken country, covered with black, white, and red pine, tawa, &c.; frontage to Motu River. Section 4: About 20 acres flat land, remainder hills timbered with black, white, and red pine, &c.; frontage to Motu River. Section 5: About 40 acres flat land, good soil, remainder broken country, covered with pine, tawa, &c.; frontage to Motu River. Section 6: About 30 acres flat land, good soil, remainder hills covered with pine, &c.; a good-sized stream runs through this section; frontage to Motu River. Section 7: About 20 acres flat land, good soil, remainder hills, light soil, covered with pine, tawa, rata, &c.; watered by a good-sized stream, frontage to Motu River. Section 8: About 30 acres flat land, good soil, remainder hills covered with pine, &c.; watered by stream, frontage to Motu River. Sections 9 and 10: Broken country, soil light, forest of pine, tawa, rata, &c.; frontage to Motu River. Sections 11 and 12: Broken country, forest consists of pine, rata, tawa, &c.; watered by good-sized stream, frontage to Motu River.

The above sections are situated about half-way on the main road from Gisborne to Opotiki.

Sale of Runs by Public Auction.

Crown Lands Office,
Christchurch, 28th April, 1885.

I HEREBY give notice that the under-mentioned runs will be submitted to auction at the Land Office, Christchurch, on the 3rd June, 1885, at 12 o’clock noon.

The licenses for the said runs shall be for a term of four years eight months and twenty-seven days, terminating the 1st March, 1890, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1877,” and its amendments.

The purchaser will have to pay on the fall of the hammer fourteen months and twenty-seven days’ rent, to 1st September, 1886, in pursuance of clause (b) of subsection 3 of section 16 of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879.”

Sale of Leases by Public Auction.

Patea, 16th May, 1885.

I T is hereby notified that part of Section 45, Hawera Survey District, known as the “Waihi Reserve,” situate about three quarters of a mile from Normanby, and subdivided into allotments as under, will be offered for lease by public auction, for a term of fourteen years, at the upset rental of 10s. an acre, at the Land Office, Hawera, on Wednesday, the 24th June next, at 10.30 a.m.

No compensation will be allowed for improvements at the end of the term.

Native Land Court Notice.

Notice under “Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883.”

I, JOHN EDWIN MACDONALD, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, do hereby, in compliance with the duty imposed upon me by “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1883,” give notice that on the 13th day of May, 1885, the title to the land mentioned in the Schedule herein became, within the meaning of the said Act, ascertained; and, further, that dealings with the said land will cease to be prohibited by the provisions of the said Act on the 22nd day of June, 1885.

NAME by which land is known: Tataramoa. Native Land Court District wherein situate: Bay of Plenty. Area: 1 acre 1 rood 20 perches.
